What did Rudra mean?

Har baar main jab bhi teri or ek kadam badhata hoon, to kuch na kuch aisa karti hai ki main sau kadam peeche hat jaata hoon.

Does he mean that he tries to approach her? What do u think? This was quite a significant dialogue isn't it?

He was getting attracted to her, and drawn to her, and then VK Singh's call came, and Rudra found out that Paro had begged his boss for his job. That sort of humiliated Rudra.

So Rudra meant that everytime he is drawn to Paro, something pops us that throws him back and away from her - his mind gets mad at her.

but doesn't this mean that Rudra indirectly said that he is drawn towards Paro and tries to approach her.. 😉
