This is the first time I ever wrote anything. so hopefully it's readable.
I am curious to see if there is more to the phone conversation. Here is my imagination :) No major Drama in this one. just a husband being there for his wife in time of need.
Raman: Did something new happen at the house today?
Raman has already noticed a difference in Ishita's voice. She is not the same. Ishita thinks of everything that happened during the day but tells herself that this is not something that should be discussed on the phone and she doesn't want to distract him from business as it is a very big deal for him. Ishita is crying thinking of all this and is silent.
Raman: hmm?
Ishita: no, nothing really. Same old
Raman: How was Ruhi's school interview? Did she do a good job?
Ishita: Yeah it was good. She did phenomenal as always. I am sure she will get admission.
Raman: Oh good. Thank you so much for taking care of all of this. I know I haven't been around for this much but things got so busy all of a sudden.
Ishita: No problem. That's what I am there for.
There was silence on the phone.
Raman: So, did she make you wear the green dress to school?
Ishita: Yes, she did.
Smile crept up on both of their lips at the mention of the green dress after thinking about their interaction the morning.
Ishita laughs for the first time during their convo.
Ishita: She threatened that if I don't wear the green dress she will give wrong answers at the interview. So, I had to.
Raman laughs at his daughter's antics.
Raman: (with a smirk on his face) bilkul baap pe gayi hain
Ishita: yeah, that's what I told her.
Raman forgot that Shagun is in the room. Shagun is listening to the conversation and starts feeling jealous. Raman and her never had a conversation like this. Ashok is downstairs partying and her son is sick. Raman is taking care of sick son and talking to his wife. He is balancing everything. Shagun feels empty and jealous.
Raman has noticed the difference in Ishita's voice and he realizes that she is crying. She is not being his normal Jhansi ki rani.
Raman: hold on for a minute
Raman looks at Shagun and gets off the sofa and comes into the hallway and closes the room door.
Raman: ok I am back
Ishita: Sorry, Are you busy? Didn't mean to disturb you by calling so many times
Raman: No, I am not busy. I am done with meetings for the day. Have an important meeting tomorrow so free until then.
Raman: Ishita, Kya hua? Why do I feel like you are crying?
All Ishita wants to do is pour her heart out but she is trying hard. She realizes that she needs to talk normal to him, as he will not give up. She wanted to keep talking to him as talking to him has made her calm down.
Ishita: No, I am not crying. I have a cold and feel a little blue. No specific reason.
Raman: why are you feeling blue? Did Mom or Simi say something to you?
Ishita starts crying more but tries hard to hide and sniffles
Ishita: No
Raman: you know! It's really not convincing if you are crying and sniffling and then say you are not crying
Ishita: Raman, I told you . I am not crying.
Raman gets annoyed as he is helpless and it is obvious Ishita is sad about something and he is clueless about it.
Raman: Ok fine. Don't tell me.
Raman gets quiet and there is silence on the phone
Ishita: Raman?
Raman: haan. I am here
Raman realizes his Jhansi ki Rani is stubborn and is not going to disclose anything. He realized he needs to make her smile rather than interrogate her as she is just as stubborn as him.
Raman: Don't tell me you are missing me!
Ofcourse, Ishita was missing him. So much happened and he is not there for her to share it with. She looks at Raman's side of the bed and starts crying. Raman was missing her too. Every night all 3 of them have been sleeping on the same bad. Even though there is no husband wife relationship between them he liked that his family was complete. Ishi Ma, papa aur beti.
Ishita: No, I am not
Raman: theek hai. I thought you were crying because I am not there to listen to your baashan. I will be back soon, don't worry. And you can have new bashan and one lines ready.
Ishita goes quiet.
Raman: Will you do me a favor? Can you please send me a picture of you and Ruhi. I miss her.
Ishita: Why do you want my picture?
Raman: (answers in a irritated tone): Why do you have to fight me with on everything. Can't you just do one thing I ask without putting up a fight?
Ishita was in no mood to fight with her ravan kumar. She also knew he was talking to her because he realized she was crying and he wanted to calm her down.
Ishita takes a picture of them both and sends it to Raman. After she sends the picture she realizes her eyes are all puffy from crying. But it was too late. The reason Raman wanted to see her face was because his gut feeling said his super woman was not in a good state.
Raman saw the picture and he muttered to himself "she says she is not crying but look at her eyes". Her eyes told him that she has been crying all day. He tells himself- "she is not going to tell me why she is crying and I don't want to get into a fight with her today". Raman is thinking of what to do
Ishita interrupts his thought
Ishita: Raman, Did you get the picture?
Raman: yeah I did. You started dieting already, moti? You look skinnier
Ishita: I was never fat
Raman: Did you forget what I told you in the morning? 360 degrees!!
Ishita: I will kill you when you come back
Raman: We will see about that. Anyways-Aren't you sleepy? It's so late.
Ishita realized she has to give him some reason otherwise raavan kumar will not give up.
Ishita: No. I tried but feeling a little scared. It's my first time in the house without you. Feeling a little lonely.
Raman: hmm.
Raman: hmm.
Raman wanted to tell her that he feels weird too staying alone as he got so used to being with Ruhi and Ishita. He was not ready to admit that yet.
Raman: Why don't you go sleep at Amma Appa's house?
Ishita: I don't want to get them worried.
Raman gets an idea.
Raman: Ishita, I am going to call you right back.
Raman hangs up the phone and calls Mihir.
Raman: Haan Mihir, Where are you? Are you sleeping?
Mihir: No Bro. Trisha wanted to grab some food. Just had dinner and on my way to drop her home.
Raman: Mihir, I need your help.
Mihir can sense the tension in Raman's voice
Mihir: What happened? Is everything ok?
Raman: No. Ishita has been crying and she is not telling me why. I am really worried. It is not like her to cry for simple stuff.
Mihir: May be she is missing you?
Raman: Stop it Mihir. You know we don't share such a relationship. There is something genuinely bothering her. I don't know if something happened at home or work.
Mihir had to smile himself and wonders- Bhai says he doesn't love Ishita but look at the concern in his voice.
Raman: Can you do me a favor and stay over at my place tonight? I don't know what happened and knowing that you are there will make me feel better.
Mihir: Yes of course bro. you called at perfect time because I am headed there anyways.
Raman: perfect. Thank you so much. I have that big meeting with the investors tomorrow and I cannot focus on it when I have to worry about Ishita. Something happened and I am going to find out when I come home. Also , please drop her at work tomorrow and see if you can find out if anything happened at work.
Mihir: ok. I will call you when I get home.
Raman hangs up the phone and calls Ishita.
Raman: Ishita, I know something happened and you are crying
Ishita: Raman, I told you nothing happened.
Raman: (raises his voice) Ishita, Please. We might not be in love with each other and we might only know each other for a few months. But I know you well and I know when you are upset. You don't have to tell me and I am not going to sit here and argue with you to make your day worse. So, I asked Mihir to come stay over. He will sleep in the living room and you and Ruhi can sleep in peace. He will be there until I come back to Delhi.
Ishita: Raman, it is not necessary.
Raman: Did I tell you you have a choice? You don't have a choice. And for once in your life please stop arguing with me.
Ishita: Ok.
Ishita felt peaceful in her heart. Even though Ruhi was with her how could she protect her if someone barges in the door. Mihir is Raman's friend and knowing that Mihir is there until Raman comes back she can face her mother in law and sister in law for few days.
Ishita: Thank you Raman.
She realized how both father and daughter protect her. Ruhi came to her room when she was scared and crying and now Raman has asked Mihir to stay with. Ishita got the courage and realized that with both Raman and Ruhi in her life, she can face the obstacles that are about to come her way.
Mihir knocks on the door and calls Raman to tell him that he is at his home. Ishita thanks Mihir and gives him the blanket and pillow and goes back to her room.
Mihir texts Raman "Raman, you are right. Something did happen. Bhabhi is different. Her eyes are puffy and red like she has been crying all day and she is sad about something. Don't worry I will be here until you come back""
Raman sees the text while he is on phone with Ishita.
Ishita: Raman, I don't want to keep you up. You have a meeting tomorrow. You should sleep.
Raman: I told you to not worry about me. You need to go to bed too. You have work in the morning.
Ishita: Ok, I will try.
Raman: Close your eyes and hug Ruhi and think about all the good times you spent with Ruhi. Sleep will come to you.
And Ishita, I know something is bothering you and I will help you with that. I am sorry it had to happen when I am away and I know you don't want to tell me because you don't want to mess my trip. Whatever it is I am there with you and we will deal with it together. You don't have to face everything alone.
Ishita couldn't help it anymore and broke down on the phone.
Raman: Ishu..
Raman stopped for a second and wondered if he just called her Ishu. Ishita wondered if she did indeed hear her raavan kumar say Ishu. Both had a smile on their face.
Raman realized he had to do something to make her smile. He couldn't keep asking her what is wrong because it is going to make her cry harder and she is not going to say anything. He wanted to distract her.
Raman: Ishu. You know I never told you this. I know I said it in the speech the other day but not to you privately. I know I always don't show that I am grateful to have you in my life but believe me I am. I am telling you this from the bottom of my heart. You know me, I am not someone who will just say things for the sake of it. Thank you for coming into my life. I have had lot of misfortunes in my life and you don't know half of it. One day you will and I am sure you have had a past and one day I will get to know of it. But for now you have shown me how to be a father and I will always be grateful for that. You have again given me a feeling of how it is to be taken care of- how it feels when someone gets worried if you burn your hand or having someone stich your shirt button. So Thank you Ishu.
Ishita: Raman, I needed to hear that today. Thank you for telling me that. I am sorry I have misunderstood you several times in the past and for all the drama I created by going to the news channel and everything after that.
Raman: It's ok. Whatever happened happened. We are in this together for Ruhi and we will start a new chapter in our lives.
Ishita smiles to herself.
Raman: Acha, now go to bed Ishita. It's too late.
Ishita: Good night Raman.
Raman: Do you want me to stay on the phone with you until you fall asleep?
Ishita: How will you know if I fell asleep?
Raman: umm from your snoring.
Ishita: Raman! I never snore!
Raman: how many lies are you going to say in one day. In the morning you said you fit into small dress and now you are saying you don't snore. Ever since we got married I am forced to sleep with the sound of freight train in my room and of course the freight train is your snoring.
Ishita: RAMAN! You are lying
Raman: Fine, when I come back I will record your snoring so you have proof.
Ishita: whatever!
Raman: ok ok don't get mad. Go to bed. Give me a call if you need anything. Good night.
Ishita smiles at the care and concern of her husband.
Ishita: Good night Raman.
Ishita kisses Ruhi and hugs Raman's pillow. Both had a smile on their face thinking that this was the first normal conversation they had without wanting to kill each other and a conversation that was not for the sake of Ruhi. Ishita dozes off to sleep with her daughter and her raavan kumar's pillow in her arms.
