Bet you didn't know that Abhishek Bachchan is a huge soccer fan.

The actor owns many soccer T-shirts and even plays a fan of the game in Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar.

Recently, during their London visit Russian billionaire and Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich offered Ash and Abhishek a special treat, which the actor grabbed.

Royal rumble

Roman Abramovich who owns one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world opened the doors to his private box for the couple. A source reveals, "Abhishek and Ash were the guest of honours for the match.

They attended two Chelsea games at Stamford Bridge. Even though Abramovich wasn't in the country, he left instructions with his staff to make sure the Bachchans were treated like royalty. Roman Abramovich ranks 16 on The World's Billionaires 2007.

Rare honour

"It is only on rare occasions that a club owner will let his private box be used by some guests. Since Roman was aware about Abhishek's fascination with the sport, he made sure he got the best seats in the house."

Apart from treating them to a football match, Roman also made sure they were served some delicious Indian food. "There was a room full of platters that included kebabs, grilled paneers and other delicacies. It was almost like having a state guest for dinner."

Before they left, the reclusive billionaire gifted the couple a sterling silver pen and a signed football shirt. "Abhishek was quite thrilled with the gift and was more than happy to take some pictures with Roman and his close friends."

Later Abhishek and Ash were given a ride in his Ferrari FXX, a racecar that is driven on a custom- made race track. The car is priced at 2.2 million dollars.

Who is Roman Abramovich

He is a Russian oil billionaire who grew up many miles away from the glamour of West London.

An orphan by the age of four, he was raised by his Jewish family in the harsh environs of the Arctic Circle.

According to 2006 Forbes Magazine, he has a net worth of $18.2 billion.

Abramovich is most famous outside Russia as the owner of Chelsea, an English Premiership football club, and for his wider involvement in European football.

BTW is it a big thing that they received suach a star treatment from Roman. Is it an achievement?

I'm actually irritated that, yesterday our President has been selected for the King Charles II award and most of the papers have overlooked it, but have enough space to highlight on this so called mediocre achievement of stars.

PS: This is not an attack on the Bachchan's I'm just irritated that there are people in our country who have had some real achievements which we should honour instead of overlooking.
