I read Akbar took a vow that he would give up hunting on Fridays if deliverance of mother of Jehangir happens safely and child lives. And he maintained that vow till death after birth of Salim. Jehangir was so lucky in 16th century to get such a loving father.

Hmmm wow... Never knew of this vow before... Sweet of him if it's true.
But, the point is... He was also desperate for a waaris... He was 27 years old when Salim was born... Very old for a king in those days. Very true, he loved Salim so much, his Sheikhubaba.

Really a gentle intentioned vow of Akbar 😛👏⭐️ That shows his deep , caring and loving consideration toward his MUZ/Jodhaa Bai and his child ❤️❤️ Salim was indeed lucky to have such pearl rare father as Akbar in such ruthless and uncompassionated Era 👏👏⭐️

I also read that he vowed this due to or for, mother of Salim, but did not know these details.

Indeed a loving/caring father and husband.

Thanx for sharing. :)

When it came to children even Jehangir was not behind
When Khurram was 15 he fell gravely ill and nothing could cure him so Jehangir took vow that if khurram is saved he will not hunt using gun(or something lke that do not remember exactly). He broke that vow when khurram did bhagawat in 1622-23 and hunted.
He again took a oath to stay away from non veg in 1623 and stayed on that for 4 years till 1627. This was said to be for khurram so he stops rebellion but some historians say he did that to reduce the guilt for killing abul fazl
He also allowed permission to set up east india factory at surat because a english doctor cured his daughter bahar bano of a incurable illness(incurable by any hakims/pandits in mughal empire)
Like Jehangir was a kid of many prayers so was khurram. He was born after 10-12 years of his parents marriage. And jagat gosain aka jodha bai(and salim) did lots and lots of vrath, donations, vows for his birth.
Its the tragedy of life that a kid for whom you do so much to be born goes on rebellion causing heart bled for fathers especially be it akbar(salim) or jehangir(for him it was tit for tat by fate both his sons revolvted khusrrau and khurram)
Shah jahan also did lot of prayers before dara sikoh was born after 3-4 daughters. But Dara Sikoh did not betray his father's prayers and was a good son
So all three generations had to pray a lot to get an heir
This gives credence to proverb spare the rod and poil the child and that desire for power corrupts
