UTV Signing Deals For Favor in Peekay-BV and Haider-Bang Bang Clash

This all started with that infamous clash on Diwali couple of years back when Ajay Devgn cried foul against YRF though he lost case ultimately regarding the same. Last year Shahrukh Khan dealt Eid clash in his own smart manner and now again 2014 will see few clashes at box office which is forcing big corporates to safe guard their interests.

First of all, lets talk about big clash of 2014. UTV will present probably the biggest release of 2014 Aamir Khan starrer Rajkumar Hirani film 'P.K.' on Christmas. Two other releases, John Abraham starrer sequel 'Welcome Back' and Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Bombay Velvet' will also release during the same period.

Next clash will unfold on 2nd October. UTV will present Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' against Fox Studio's Hrithik Katrina starrer 'Bang Bang'. These clashes involve two big films from U TV ('P.K.' and 'Haider') against Fox Studio's ('Bang Bang' and 'Bombay Velvet'). Field is wide open for flexing powerful muscles by corporates in order to garner better and bigger release.

As per our sources, U TV is asking exhibitors to sign deals in favor of above mentioned films if they want to show case '2 States'. U TV has big investment riding especially on 'P.K.' so they do not want to take any chances. As we all know that 'P.K.' was postponed from June 6th to Christmas only for making better revenues during holiday period.

On the hand, Fox Star India is found unaware of all this development until handful of exhibitors signed with U TV for same deal. Now it will be interesting to see this battle as still there is enough time left to decide the winner. May the best player win!
