Top 5 New Discoveries of Channel V
by Preetam Juneja 01-Apr-2014

Channel V, the youth oriented TV Network has dared to re-invent itself and came out successfully so much so that its new launched shows have found much acceptance than other launched shows on other networks. The sole reason behind it is the freshness of new stories, actors and creative teams. Particularly, this season we have witnessed one of the finest talents to come out on Television after a very long time. Some fresh new faces like Harshita Gaur (Sadda Haq) and Sheetal Singh(Paanch) have already become household names and their journey continues. However, we would like to mention our top five new faces who are not giving just rock solid performances but their characters are also pretty well etched out. That is why we feel they stand out of the lot. But that doesn't take anything away from other actors who giving their best to their respective shows. Each of them deserves applause. Here goes our list.

1. Rashi Mal (plays Gauri in Paanch)

Well one may feel a bit confused about choosing the top spot, but for us it's a no brainer here. The Impression of Gauri Laada from Paanch is immensely strong. After a very long time, this performance is something to watch out on Television. Playing a mean, ruthless gang leader especially for a girl could be the most difficult task ever mainly because of its challenging spirit. But Rashi Mal plays it so effortlessly that you can't just keep your eyes off her until she's on screen. And that's also a reason that her mean character now slowly turning into an icon. Equally hats off to the creative team of Paanch. Rashi is here to stay. Two Thumbs Up!

2. Param Singh (plays Randhir Singh Shekhawat in Sadda Haq)

Param's character Randhir Singh Shekhawat' needless to say has won many hearts already. Param quite suits the role and plays it brilliantly. His character has different shades and the writing team delivers a great job by portraying each layer with complete understanding. One really feels for his character and sometimes dislikes his actions too. Param deserves brownie points for making

Randhir' so believable.

3. Kiran Srinivas (plays Roy in Paanch)

Few people know that Kiran has been a Kannada actor. But his discovery on Television is something to watch out for. Already seen in series 24 earlier, Kiran pitches in a great performance of a drug addict in Paanch. His performance stands out because of the rawness he brings out off his character. Mostly he would make you hate him completely but on the other hand, there are times you can only sympathize with him. The creatives of Paanch again need to be applauded for shaping up a complex character like Roy Dsouza'.

4. Aalekh Kapoor (plays Maddy in It's Complicated) Comedy is very difficult especially when you fail to impress, and everything can fall flat. Thankfully, Aalekh's character Maddy' in the show delivers what one would expect - Comedy with a taste. He plays a sketching artist in the show that is in love with his neighbour. His funny liners are to watch out for. You can experience that Comedy comes naturally to Aalekh which is a fact too. You can depend on him for bringing a smile. The creatives of the show deserve applause for the character and the apt casting.

5. Ronjini Chakraborthy (plays Zara in Paanch) : Zara's character in the show is of a troubled soul, who tries to fake an Impression of a strong persona, but that's actually the opposite. A very complex and rarely seen character on Television, Ronjini takes her gut out and performs her character quite convincingly. A fine artist as she is, she strikes the right balance between vulnerability and taking control. The creative team of Paanch does a fine job in forming a multilayered character quite efficiently.

We really hope the Channel and the creative teams of their shows keep up the great job by shaping up these Interesting characters and others even more to keep their audiences on the edge of their excitement. This should be just the beginning.
