Charities with Benefits- Bollywood Beauties Compete over Causes

As brouhaha around Shabana Azmi's star studded and elegantly designed 'Men for Mijwan' fashion show begins to settle down, we bring you the low down on the politics of charity shows that stars tend to play.
Recently, a dusky, 40 plus Bollywood diva whose body has made more business than her acting skills, has been checking with select trusted journalists for a 'respected charity' that she associates with. This diva believes it will upgrade her image once and for all, to a respectable actor (all this while, of course, letting go of the most important factor in the equation- acting!). And when she has finally given the nod to participation to some charity fashion shows, she has added the costs of her entourage to this (something that is not unheard of, but is also not very common in this day and age of multiple charity appearances by celebrities).
Two other leading heroines - one who is riding a crest in bollywood presently with three super hits and multiple awards, and the second, a diva who is trying multiple things - recently went on a popular couch based talk show as 'friends'. But when it came to contributing to a charity event with their time, the latter is now cribbing with organizers that her effort hasn't garnered any publicity, even as her 'friend''s has! This complaint has of course, come in without a prior request for publicity in the first place!
And to cap it all, are erstwhile heroines with nearly non existent careers, whose managers solicit 'charity' work as paid deals! Perhaps we are cynical, but to think that anyone, let alone a cash strapped non profit organisation, will pay for these ladies (presently relegated to the realm of endorsing water purifiers, mouth fresheners and kids chocolates), is quite a stretch of the imagination of these celebrity managers!
Perhaps that explains Shabana Azmi's intentions on focusing on men, maybe they are hassle free and come with fewer 'cost' overheads.
