Hindi TV soaps continue to borrow heavily from telly soaps of yesteryear, aping every successful formula, forgetting that audiences are not too fond of getting a feeling of deja vu when it comes to watching TV soaps. Given that inspiration is what soapmakers are seeking, how about picking up established and accepted shows and recreating them with Indian twist?Mr Bean: Laughter is a sure shot formula for success on Indian TV.From Comedy Circus (in its seventh season), Comedy Nights with Kapil to Mad In India, there's clearly a huge audience for laugh riots in India going by the sheer numbers. Remaking Mr Bean could be an easy option, given that some of the episodes are so eminently adaptable. May be Kapil Sharma or Sunil Grover with their mobile and expressive faces could be given the lead role that Rowan Atkinson immortalized!ER: One of the finest medical shows on television, this also happens to be George Clooney's launchpad to Hollywood movies, but that's another story. There have been medical shows like Sanjeevani, Alp Viram and Dill Mill Gayye in the past, so remaking ER wouldn't be that difficult with some Indian tadka and may be Karan Singh Grover or Barun Sobti essaying Clooney's role!Two and A Half Men:A light hearted flick that doesn't boast of smart liners or great storyline, but just keeps you smiling. Has tremendous potential to be adapted to an Indian storylineFriends: Every urban Indian telly buff loves this series. So may be it's about time someone actually buys the license and remakes it in India. The cast can comprise the likes of Mohit Sehgal, Arjun Bijlani, Karan Wahi, Shweta Gulati, Kratika Kamra -- the possibilities are endless.Sex and the City: Considering such a huge chunk of viewers in India are woman, it's about time urban Indian women had a show dedicated to them.
