Hi fatima
Thanks for the pm
And sorry for late reply but anyways the update was fantastic
I never thought meher is so cunning I mean how cleverly she turned the table again on preet when he took her to the room to get the truth out of her mouth
What is bothering me ki y does preet for once listen to meher everytime she tries to say something he interupts her
Reading the precap from your last update really scared me and I was thinking y would preet throw meher out and then what will meher do
But over here gaurav came for her rescue by convincing preet to get meher back
The gaurav bhaiya and patidev dialougues and the reactions of preet and gaurav are very well written and I just loved them
Now coming to the story as a whole I am missing those feel of connection between both of them I mean in aadha ishq also they were fighting but somewhere they were attracted over here they are just fighting I know u must have have kept those tracks for future update but missing that
You know while reading this nok jhok updates I remembered the ghagra song from yeh jawani hai dewaani imagine preet and meher dancing on that song will look so cute
The precap is interesting that meher going at preet's office I mean this meher in this story is a smart and cunning lady that will do anything so that things go according to her way in this she is a perfect competition for preet because somewhat she is like preet in this story
Now fatima waiting for 2 weeks is too much plss plss plss try to update soon
Chapter 13 - The Way To A Man's Heart

The next morning...
Meher quietly approached Preet's bed and checked the time on his watch. It was already 7:15 AM, and he was still fast asleep. I wonder if I should wake him, she thought. Looks like he forgot to set the alarm before going to bed last night. I'm sure he'll be late for work, and blame me for it. I can't let that happen. I still have to talk to him and some how convince him to let me stay.
She reached out and gently nudged him, but other than stirring slightly in his sleep, Preet did nothing. Meher nudged him a little harder, but he still didn't wake up. "Preet?" she called out, but he remained fast asleep. Lagta hai nawab saab ghode baich ke soye huay hain, (He's in such deep slumber), she thought. Only one thing to do. She went to the kitchen and brought back a glass of water. She had only intended to sprinkle a few drops on his face, but as she approached the bed, she tripped on the floor rug and the entire contents of the glass went flying and landed right on Preet's face.
The splash of cold water made Preet sit up with a jolt. He wiped his face with his hands and coughed out loud. "What the hell is going on?!" he yelled. He looked up to see Meher standing with one hand on her mouth and in the other was an elmpty glass. "Tum! What were you trying to do drown me or something?!"
"I'm so sorry", said Meher as she picked up a towel lying at the foot of his bed and attempted to wipe his face. "I didn't mean to...I mean...I was just trying to..."
"I don't want to hear it", said Preet, as he took the towel from Meher's hands. He took her by the elbow and began to walk her out of the room. "And didn't I tell you not to come into my room?"
"But I was only trying to help", protested Meher. "I didn't want you to be late for work".
"Oh really", said Preet. "Well I don't need your help. You see they have something called an alarm clock for things like this. And it actually wakes me up without giving me a shower in bed".
"But it didn't go off and I thought maybe you forgot to set it last night", explained Meher.
"Sorry to disappoint you Meher, but I'm not as stupid as I look", said Preet. He walked back to his bedside table and picked up his clock. "I set it for exactly 7...PM". Oops! Thought Preet. It wasn't the first time he had done that. In fact it was turning into a bad habit.
"Okay...alright", sighed Preet. "So I'm up now...happy? Just go and let me get ready in peace".
Meher nodded and slowly walked to the kitchen. That hadn't gone as well as I had hoped, she thought. What to do next? I know! I'll cook him some breakfast. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach...let's find out just how true that is.
Meher quickly prepared some eggs and toast and set everything neatly on the table. She was pouring juice into a glass when Preet came out. "Breakfast is ready", she said smiling politely.
"Why?" asked Preet.
"Why what?" asked Meher.
"Why did you make breakfast?" asked Preet.
"Well...I...I thought that..." began Meher.
"...That you could convince me to let you stay, by cooking breakfast?" chuckled Preet. "Sorry. It's not going to work. In any case, I'm running late". He picked up his briefcase and took an apple from the fruit bowl lying on the dining table and began to munch it on his way out. Just then he remembered his tie. "Oh crap! I totally forgot about tying this noose around my neck!" he complained.
Meher watched him struggle with it for a few minutes before offering her help. "I can tie it for you", she said as she reached out for the tie.
Preet immediately slapped her hand away. "Na ah! No touching, remember? I'll get Gaurav to tie it for me at work. Oh and by the way, I'll be sending a courier home later with your new ticket, so make sure you're here to receive it. And make sure you're on that train this time. Goodbye Meher...Maan".
Meher frowned as she watched Preet leave. Fine! Have it your way! She thought, as she folded her arms in determination. But then I'll have it my way too!
Later that day...
Preet checked his watch. It was nearly lunch time and he was famished. He had skipped out on breakfast just to prove a point to Meher, but he could barely concentrate on his work now. He checked his desk drawer for his emergency supply of chocolate and granola bars...but it was empty. I must have finished them during all those late nights I've been working, he sighed.
Preet picked up some files he had to give Gaurav and headed out his door. He had not gone too far when he saw a small cluster of employees crowded around a desk. He was surprised to see that Gaurav was among them. What's going on here? He wondered. As he got closer, he was immediately hit with the delicious aroma of homemade food. Mmm...Looks like some lucky guy brought a tiffin from home. Maybe I can get in on the action too.
Preet walked closer to the scene rubbing his hands together in anticipation, but what he found there left him in shock instead. Meher, dressed in her pink salwar kameez, sat perched on one side of the desk, smiling and chatting up a storm with his colleagues, while tiffin containers full of food lay open for them to sample.
"Hi Preet!" She smiled, waving at him.
"Oh hey Preet, I was wondering when you'd show up. You better get some of this before we finish it all", said Gaurav in between mouthfuls.
"What's going on here?" asked Preet as he pulled Gaurav to one side.
"Meher brought lunch", smiled Gaurav. "I was a little surprised she was still here considering your mood last night. But I guess you 2 made peace after all".
"No we didn't", hissed Preet. "This is some new trick of hers. She's more clever than I thought. Um...Meher...May I please see you in my office for a minute?"
"Sure", smiled Meher, as she picked up a 2nd tiffin and followed Preet into his office.
Once there, Preet closed the door behind him and immediately turned on her. "What are you doing here?" He demanded.
"I brought lunch", said Meher. She held up the tiffin as a shield in front of Preet.
"I can see that! But why?!" asked Preet.
"Why what?" Meher asked innocently.
"Why did you bring lunch?" demanded Preet. "And why are you not at the train station?"
"Because you left home without eating any breakfast", explained Meher. "And I thought you would be hungry".
"I am not hungry!" insisted Preet. Suddenly his empty stomach grumbled loudly.
"I think you may be just a little hungry", giggled Meher. "Your stomach sounds like a dying whale".
Before Preet could say anything further, there was a knock on his door. It was the courier boy he had sent. "Saab...", he said. "I went by your place, but no one was there". He handed Preet the envelope containing the train ticket.
Preet grinned at Meher triumphantly. Fate was on his side after all. "I bet you thought you could get out of this one didn't you? But here it is. Your ticket to Delhi. And I'm going to make sure to get you to the station and put you on that train myself".
"Lekin Preet, meri baat to sunno (But Preet, at least give me a chance to explain)", pleaded Meher, as Preet took her by the elbow and walked her out. They were met at the door by Mr. Bakshi.
"Ah! Preet my boy, there you are", smiled Mr. Bakshi. "I heard your wife stopped by".
"Namaste sir", Meher smiled as she seized the opportunity to stall for more time. "I'm Meher Ma...um...uh...Juneja".
"Hello Meher", said Mr. Bakshi. "It's so nice to meet you again, and under much better circumstances. The office staff is full of praise for your wonderful cooking. That was quite nice of you to surprise them like that".
"My pleasure sir", said Meher.
"I helped myself to a few morsels too", admitted Mr. Bakshi. "Took me back to the time when Mrs. Bakshi and I were newly married and she would surprise me with little things like this. You're a fabulous cook by the way. Loved that chicken..."
"Shahi chicken sir", Meher corrected him. She could see from the corner of her eye, that the despite the angry looks Preet was shooting her way, the mention of food was having it's affect on him.
"...Oh and that gobi...", said Mr. Bakshi.
Gobi, Preet licked his lips. That was his favorite sabzi.
"I should tell my wife to get in touch with you and get the recipes...", said Mr. Bakshi.
Oh no not the recipe exchange, thought Preet.
"I'll do better than that. Why don't you and Mrs. Bakshi come over for dinner sometime? Like...next week maybe?" Meher asked hopefully.
"Huhn?" said Preet.
"That's so sweet of you my dear", smiled Mr. Bakshi. "I don't think any of my staff has ever made us such an offer. I'll check with the Mrs. and get back to you on that". He leaned over and whispered into Preet's ear. "She knows how to network better than you. I suppose you want to have lunch now Preet. I'm sorry to say that there's not much left out there though".
"It's alright sir. I made an extra tiffin just for Preet, but he refuses to eat", Meher said with a pout.
"Refuses to eat? And why is that?" asked Mr. Bakshi.
"Woh...woh...", stammered Preet. He glared angrily at Meher.
"He's still upset with me for missing the party", Meher quickly answered. "And I suppose it didn't help that I spilled some water on him this morning. It was a complete accident I assure you. But he is so stubborn and unforgiving at times".
"Oh is he?" Mr. Bakshi frowned at Preet.
"Now you tell me sir which couple doesn't fight?" continued Meher.
"That's true", Mr. Bakshi nodded in agreement.
"But his solution is to...to send me back to Delhi, even though I'm done with university", said Meher. She showed Mr. Bakshi the train ticket and began to sob loudly into her dupatta.
"Why you little..." began Preet.
"Preet! What is this I'm hearing?" demanded Mr. Bakshi.
"You've got it all wrong sir", Preet spoke up quickly. "Her mother called this morning and was missing her terribly. I promised her I'd send Meher back to Delhi right away for a visit. I mean we have the rest of our lives to spend together surely I can manage without her for a few days".
At the mention of her mother Meher grew quiet and didn't respond.
"That's very considerate of you Preet. Well...I'll leave you 2 alone to enjoy your lunch hour", said Mr. Bakshi, as he walked out of the office.
Preet breathed a sigh of relief. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone, he chuckled to himself. Meher's coming to the office like a dutiful wife had only served to once again prove his story about being married was true. To top it all off, he had given Mr. Bakshi the perfect excuse to explain Meher's upcoming absence. He could get rid of her now. The expression on Meher's face clearly showed that whatever she had planned had backfired on her big time.
"I bet you thought you were going to have things your way. But the score is officially Preet Juneja - 1, and Meher Maan nothing", he gloated out loud.
A single tear trickled down Meher's cheek.
"Aw come on now, don't be a sore loser", Preet said rolling his eyes. "What is it with you women...always crying over the slightest thing?"
Meher didn't answer. She quietly wiped the tear from her face and walked out of the office. She bumped into Gaurav on her way out.
"Hey Meher...", he said. But she ignored him and walked on ahead. "What's wrong with her?"
"Who cares?" chuckled Preet. "All I know is that I am finally free of her". Preet glanced over at the tiffin sitting on his desk. He opened the individual containers and popped a morsel into his mouth. He felt relieved to finally eat something, and he had to admit, Meher was a damn good cook. All of a sudden Preet felt someone breathing down his neck. He turned around to see his friend glaring at him.
"You're really something else, you know that?" said Gaurav.
"What did I do now?" asked Preet.
"You made that poor girl cry, and now you actually have the gaul to eat the food she cooked!" cried Gaurav.
"Hey! I paid for all the ingredients", protested Preet.
Preet and Gaurav were still arguing, while unbeknownst to them Rishap and Ashlesha had been watching the entire scene from afar for quite some time.
"Hmm", said Rishap. "What do you think?"
"About what?" asked Ashlesha.
"About Preet's new wife", said Rishap. "Were you able to find out anything about her?"
"I already told you his wife was there when I went over", said Ashlesha. "It was quite embarrassing you know. And she brought lunch for him today. I guess you were wrong and he really is married".
"Maybe", said Rishap. "But I don't know. There is something not right about the whole thing. Look at the way he treats her. And why would he agree to take you back to his place when he's got such a pretty wife of his own?"
"Because Ash ki toh baat hi aur hai (Because Ash is special)", said Ashlesha haughtily. "Waise...I think you're just being a sore loser".
"Maybe", said Rishap. "One thing is for sure, we're not going to get anything out of Preet, so why not try his wife?"
"What do you mean?" asked Ashlesha.
"Follow me", said Rishap, as he led her to Preet's office.
"Knock knock", said Rishap.
"Oh it's you", said Preet. "What do you want Rishap?"
"My my, aren't we a bit touchy today?" scoffed Rishap. "I thought you'd be in a good mood considering the wife surprised everyone with a lunch treat. I even saw Mr. Bakshi help himself to a couple of bites. Talk about kissing up to the boss. You've trained your wife well. Speaking of whom, where is the lovely lady? I don't think we've been properly introduced".
"Yeah well, too bad, she just left", said Preet. He exchanged a glance with Gaurav. Why was Rishap taking a sudden interest in Meher?
"That really is too bad", said Rishap. "I mean, I missed her at the party and now here at the office. Almost seems like you're trying to keep her away from me on purpose".
"Give me a break Rishap", said Preet. "I've had it about up to here with you poking your nose in my personal business".
"I'm hurt Preet. How can you think so less of me?" said Rishap.
"Get to the point. What do you want?" asked Gaurav.
"Ash and I are having a little party at this trendy new place that just opened up. And you're both invited, with the wives that is", said Rishap.
"No thanks", said Preet.
"Oh come on Preet, it'll be fun", added Ashlesha. "Besides, you've got a lot to celebrate...what with a new promotion and a new wife".
"I'm afraid that's not going to be possible", replied Preet. "Meher's not really into the nightclub scene. Besides she's leaving today to visit her mother. She's gone home to pack right now".
"Okay then we'll see her at the wedding anniversary party for Mr. and Mrs. Bakshi at the end of the month", suggested Rishap. "She'll like it there I'm sure. It'll be mutual friends, familiar faces from the office, some very important clients, and not to mention a great way to make it into the good books with the boss. Everyone in the office will be chipping in for a gift too. We can have you and Meher do the honors and present it to Mr. and Mrs. Bakshi at the party. Sort of like the newlyweds wishing the older couple, and hoping for an equally successful run in their relationship".
"How sweet", remarked Ashlesha.
"It is isn't it? I don't think Martha Stewart could have come up with a better idea", grinned Rishap.
"Look I told you Meher's gone", said Preet.
"She won't be gone forever will she?" asked Ashlesha.
"I wonder if she'll be gone at all", grinned Rishap.
"What do you mean?" asked Preet.
Rishap picked up something from the floor and handed it to Preet. It was the train ticket to Delhi.
