Hi,
I'm new to this forum.
Started watching Beintehaa only a few weeks ago, and I've just been coming by and reading a few of your posts all these days.
Was tempted to post about that lovely Suno na sang-e-marmar scene yesterday.
Zain sitting there, feet propped up, watching mindless TV!! Bliss.
His wife is hovering around - he's surprised. Her folks are here, so how come she's still here, doing "time-pass"?
A sponge bath! Fine! He's still in that cocky frame of mind and offers her some nice buttery popcorn. Aliya, superwoman with super powers of resistance, doesn't even help herself to one tiny piece. And she puts it aside... and leans forward to unstrap the arm sling.
Zain is already blinking at the proximity - Aliya in flesh and blood... warm skin, soft hair, smooth cheek, rosy lips, perfumed breath... all within touching distance... he loses the smile.
Aliya squeezes water out of the damp cloth and runs it neatly, meticulously over his hand, gently over the palm, carefully over the fingers and tips. Again the arm. Then the neck... there was just a lovely quality to the way the actor did this - she was particular, gentle, dignified... a nice economy and deliberation to Preetika's movements.
Zain is losing it - losing out to the concern and care in her every gesture. He is conscious of receiving her unwavering attention... and he is transfixed himself!
She pulls the plaster off his forehead - a small twinge, but he can't resist making a little more out of it. And she falls for it immediately. Contrite that his wound was hurt, she leans up to apologise to it, blow on it sweetly to make amends. He looks up at her, her lips so close... focussed on the wound on his forehead.
Bin tere maddham maddham bhi chal rahi thi dhadkan
Jab se mile tum humein...
Aanchal se tere bandhe...
Dil ud raha hai...
Zain is being wooed, almost. And he falls for it. In this love battle of theirs, he has conceded massive ground today.
aaj se dil pe mere raaj tumhaara...
taj tumhara
She sticks on fresh dressing and leans forward again to cradle his arm in the sling. She's done. She leans back and hands him back the bowl of popcorn - but his hands are unsteady and he takes two attempts to hold the bowl securely. And as she gets up from her task: "Thanks."
Yes, Zain Abdullah saying thanks.
Gratitude. Such a beautiful feeling.
Why does someone do anything for us? Our parents, our siblings, our friends, our significant others, our children, our loved ones? Why do they care? Why do they put themselves out?
Possibly because it makes them happy. Possibly because, with love in their hearts, they cannot do any less.
But to someone on the receiving end, there is inevitably, surprise and tremendous gratitude.
There is nothing is the world as irresistible as love. If someone loves you, without wanting anything from you, sooner or later, you have to give in.
Zain got a small glimpse of that yesterday.
