Varad with those spects and well-groomed look appears like a wise, well-mannered, considerate, responsible man. But whenever there is an emotional scene with Varad, the other character is shown through his glasses. I get the feeling that Varad hears what the other person is saying but he doesn't really listen. He sees but doesn't perceive.

With Sojal, he is indifferent. He doesn't care about her problems and her insecurities. He doesn't consider Shlok's pain as a big deal. Even though he respects his mother and Vinayak, he doesn't really consider their advise regarding spending time with his family.

The image through his glasses is tiny, which probably means that he sees the other person's pain as much smaller than it really is. Or he may have a distorted perception of others problems. May be he thinks his problems are bigger than others problems.

wonder what his problem is? is it that he was not allowed to marry a girl of his choice? is that why he is having an affair? or is it that he is not given much importance by his father?

Nice points.
Varad is shown to be a well groomed guy, wearing nice suits n crisp linen shirts msot of the time. He is affectionate towards kavya, loves her, Shlok n vinayak. He cares about them n wants them to be happy. He is distant with his parents n does not voice his opinion n keeps away. With Sojal, I think he was put in a position where he had to marry her. He made this telling comment earlier that shlok shd b allowed to choose his own bride n not everyone is lucky to hv that choice.
He also keeps telling Sojal 'apne kaam se kaam rakho', keep yr nose out of the affairs in the agni house, but Sojal being Sojal can't do that. She is v insecure as has been pointed out n jealous n is easily swayed by others, does not use her brains. She can redeem their marriage if she changes for the better and focuses more on her hubby n kid rather on aastha/property etc.
Varad sees the truth behind the glasses but keeps silent. We may see some devpts in his story now. Will be interesting.

same applies to sojal too. if she tried to understand him, he would have found happiness at home

hmm. looks can be deceiving anu. thats all i can say for now. we have to wait until everything is revealed.

sojal is not perfect, sometimes she can be really nasty, but still there are certain qualities in sojal that i like.😊

nice take nim_var.
i think sojal's insecurities increased after being used thanklessly by every person in the agnihotri house. she is a petty person, but still if she has her husband's understanding, she would behave better. on the other hand varad would be able to love sojal if she was more understanding and decent. they both need to work on their marriage and not find ways to fill the void with not-so-respectable activities.
