Sanyukta looked outside the train's window and saw the places going past her. It was as if the world was fleeting by while she was still rooted at the same spot. She didn't want that. But again what choice did she have?
She wanted to cry, shout, scream, do whatever she could to remove the burning feeling that was arising in her chest, which literally killed her. But she couldn't.
She was shattered. She couldn't decipher what to do, how to do, where to go. She had left her family for someone who had now left her. Although the thought seemed awfully wrong, she had no other option than to believe it. That Randhir Singh Shekhawat, the person she loved so much, the one she trusted and gave her heart, her soul and her body too, had left her, cheated her.
Why? She wanted to know why. But she knew there was no one left to answer her. She wanted to just collapse but couldn't, because she knew there was no one to support her, no one to hold her back straight, and because she knew once she falls she won't be able to get up again.
What was she supposed to do? Go back to her family? But hadn't she herself left her family? With what face should she return now then? She had been selfish, then how could she accept her family to accept her? And will they anyways? The answer she knew. They will never. Even if they do at first, if they hear what she had done in love, they would never.
So what now? She prayed to HIM to show a way, a path for her.
Suddenly the train halted. Sanyukta looked out of the window to see the name of the station. Mumbai. City of dreams people said. Dreams... She remembered having dreams too, but they seemed so far now, as if it was the ghost of the person that had those dreams, which had been living her past life, it seemed like a lifetime ago.
"Excuse me madam, this is the last station and you ought to get down soon." Interrupted a voice. A male voice.
Randhir! She thought, and quickly looked at the source of sound.
Alas! It was not Randhir. It was someone she didn't know.
She didn't get down her seat and kept sitting there.
"madam where do you wanna go?" the voice again said.
Sanyukta looked at him with a forlorn look in her eyes and said: "I don't know. I don't have any path. All I see is dark ways. And I don't even know which path is right or which is wrong."
Man: "So what? This is Mumbai. People come here to fulfil their dreams. This the city of dreams and everyone has dreams which are yet to be fulfilled."
Sanyu: my dreams have been shattered.
Man: then join those shattered bits together.
Sanyu: and what if I can't?
Man: then god will know what to do. If you try I am sure your effort will never go in vain.
Sanyu: what if I don't have it in me to put efforts anymore nor any purpose?
Man: it can't be that you don't.
Sanyu: how do you know?
Man: coz you are still alive.
Sanyu: means?
Man: means that if you are still alive then surely you have a purpose to be alive, a purpose which you might not realize now but realize later. God never keeps a person on earth without a motto. And if you are breathing always know that your life has a reason to live, to breathe and no one, no one can snatch that away from you. And when you have your reasons, you also have the strength to stand up for it, fight for it and put efforts for it. So come on. Start anew.
He smiled and she didn't know why seeing his positivity she too smiled. He encouraged her. She believed that she might be having a purpose left and she realized it is her dream, her dream of becoming a mechanical engineer of the top notch. So what if he is not there? She will start anew. She will live her life, for her dreams, for proving her worth to the word.
But she didn't even have a penny with her. How was she supposed to start now? She looked up to find the man still looking at her, encouraging her. She opened her mouth to speak but before that he continued.
"Come with me. I know you don't have anyone here nor any support and as god has made you reach me I will support you. You will start afresh here in Mumbai. Come."
She didn't know if she could trust him or not. Her education told her not to trust any stranger but then she had not seen any benefit of trusting someone known. Had she? Something in her told her that the man could be trusted and whats the harm anyways? Not that she had anything left in her except her dream.
So she got up from her seat and followed the man. Helping her get out the, man smiled and said: "Hi! I am Parth Kashyap!"
At that moment however Sanyukta decided that to start anew her old self had to die. She had to stop being vulnerable and close up, so that the world couldn't hurt her. She had to forget herself, her old life, her past, her family and...him... Randhir Singh Shekhawat.
"Hi. I am Sneha Kapoor."
Saying so she proceeded towards the exit of the station and saw the hustling bustling city in front of her. Where a new life awaited her and once again looking at Parth who encouraged her, she took a step towards this new world.
Love
Shreya.
