Holi, the festival of love and colours, has always been important in Bollywood " whether on or off the screen.

Innumerable films have featured sensuous Holi item numbers " the songs are very popular and are even played all across India at the time of Holi every year...

The new generation has added to it, with songs like Balam Pichkari' to Enne Unne', tracks that have made Holi the new musical trend of Bollywood.

When it comes to playing Holi to Big B's Rang Barse', one can say old is gold, but the Gen Next has helped in taking the Holi celebrations to the next level with every effort.

Some of the old movies that show Holi in a big way are, Sholay', Darr', Baghban', Waqt' and Action Replayy' and have helped in popularizing this colourful festival. But, the B-town stars celebrate Holi off the screen as well.

In a rare picture, Raj Kapoor famous for his Holi celebrations, is seen with Amitabh Bachchan enjoying Holi.

Even the Badshah' of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and superhero Salman Khan have been known to celebrate Holi. The dhak dhak' girl of Bollywood, Madhuri was once seen with her Ram Lakhan' and Khalnayak' director Subhash Ghai during Holi.

Some of the famous stars, such as Kajol and Ajay and also Govinda and his wife, are known to celebrate Holy in a big way. Other tinsel town stars who have been spotted celebrating Holi in the past include, Neha Dhupia, Pooja Bedi, Celina Jaitley, Kareena Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar and Sameera Reddy.

Some B-town stars are also seen celebrating Holi at different television channel get-togethers. At a programme with Zoom, some of the stars were seen playing Holi, such as Kashmira Shah and Shraddha Sharma.

Holi also known as Basanta Utsav' is celebrated across India. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival, but non-Hindus join in to become part of the popular festival, too.

The celebrations of Holi begin with a bonfire on the previous night, where people gather t0 sing and dance. On the following morning everyone joins in the carnival of colours, where everyone plays, with dry colours and some carry coloured-water filled guns or coloured-water filled balloons to fight against each other.
