The day is fast approaching. My apologies for being a bit advanced here because I have a huge midterm on Thursday and will be busy studying for the rest of the week. But I'm sure you all know what this thread is all about, so without much further ado . . .

Today, March 21st, we come together to celebrate a leading actress's birthday! I'm sure there are no second guesses as to who this beautiful actress is. Many have often criticized her for her weight, height, voice, looks, and not to forget her personal life as well. But she stands today as one of the biggest actresses of the Indian Cinema. She has given us many wonderful hits! She has carried herself with so much grace in all her films regardless of the final outcome of the film itself. She is one of the fewest actresses to have worked to all the big Khans of the industry: Aamir, Shahrukh, Salman, & Saif. And the same Khans have just the same amount of respect for her as she does for them. She is mostly associated with the Yash Raj Films banner, but has worked under many various producers and directors. She has experimented with various different roles and has excelled in just about all of them. She comes from a beautiful Bengali family with loving parents, brother, bhabhi, and nephew/niece. She is the Queen of Hearts, the Queen of Bollywood...

Today, we all come together to celebrate this beauty's 36th birthday. Time certainly does fly. Here's wishing Rani a very happy birthday. May all her dreams and wishes come true always and forever. May she continue signing movies and doing what she loves. May she continue to entertain fans the way she has always been doing. May she always be successful and carry that gorgeous smile of hers everywhere she goes. May she be the greatest blessing to her parents, brother, and her future husband & children. She deserves all the happiness in the world. She has proven herself as an actress by each film of hers. She is a wonderful inspiration to many young artists out there. And her fans worldwide wish her the happiest of birthdays. Please join me in wishing this Bengali beauty a very happy birthday.

Continue onward to the next post for more birthday extravaganza!

Little did anyone know the star Rani would become years later. She was pushed into the film industry by her mother, Krishna ji. Thank you, Krishna ji, for believing in your daughter. She has proven day and day that she is here to stay! Her first film came with Raja Ki Aayegi Barat in which the film didn't do so well. But that was not the end for struggling actress Rani. Her first hit with Aamir came with Ghulam, one year after her release of Raja Ki Aayegi Barat. After Ghulam, the actress was on her way to stardom. Next came Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Shahrukh & Kajol (Rani's cousin). It was an interesting turn of fate for Rani, as many actresses had rejected the role of Tina before finally Rani accepted the offer. The odds were in her favor. The movie was a superhit movie! Then came a series of movies that did not do well for Rani: Mehndi, Hello Brother, Badal, Hey Ram, Had Kar Di Aapne, Bichoo, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Bas Itna Sa Khawb Hai, and Nayak. But she proved with every role that she was capable of challenging herself and doing something not in her forte. With all these roles she excelled. Next she had a minor, but impactful role in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gaum. The next year Pyar Deewana Hota Hai and Mujhse Dosti Karoge came out, but again didn't prove as extraordinary for Rani. In the same year, however, she was back with a bang in Saathiya opposite Vivek. Chalo Ishq Laadaye didn't do well for her, but Chalte Chalte she was once again back with hit jodi Shahrukh! Though the movie didn't fare to do so well, her jodi with Shahrukh was talked about! Calcutta Mail, Chori Chori, LOC Kargil, were all not big hits. Rani received a lot of praise for Yuva with co star Abhishek Bachchan. What a dream couple they were! Next came Hum Tum with Saif in which she won a filmefare award for Best Actress! And directly after came Veer Zaara where she bagged most of the Best Supporting Actress awards. But the film that came next for Rani was the film that probably can be considered Rani's best in terms of acting. Black was the winner for most all awards and Rani won various Best Actress awards for this film. With Bunty Aur Babli the talk was of her jodi with Abhishek again! Then came Paheli and Mangal Pandey. After which came Karan Johar's multi-star caster movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna which had quite a lot of mixed reviews. Baabul that failed to do well, delivered a strong message to all the daughters out there and Rani gave a brilliant performance once again. Ta Ra Rum Pum opposite Saif didn't prove to do so well. Neither did Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, which really was touching senti film that was not recognized very well. Rani's acting was phenomenal and unfortunately the film wasn't appreciated as much as it should have been. In Saawariya Rani played a small role. Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic and Dil Bole Hadippa once again didn't do so well. No One Killed Jessica proved to be a movie in which both Vidya and Rani excelled in their characters! Aiyya tanked and probably will go down as Rani's worst while Talaash was average and praise was divided between co star Kareena and Rani. Bombay Talkies was a small film, but Rani's character was highly praised. As of now, Rani is shooting for her next venture Mardaani!

As can be seen, Rani has had a lot of ups and downs in her filmography, but with each role she has proven herself time and time again that she is one of the finest actresses of the Indian Film Industry.

Rani Mukerji Makes History At The Filmfare Awards!

She becomes the actress with the highest number of Filmfare Awards [Actress & Supporting Actress] to her name.

1999 - Best Supporting Actress for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
2003 - Best Actress [Critics Choice] for Saathiya
2005 - Best Supporting Actress for Yuva, Best Actress for Hum Tum
2006 - Best Actress for Black, Best Actress [Critics Choice] for Black
2011 - Best Supporting Actress for Noone Killed Jessica

Other records set by Rani - She is the first and only actress to have ever won both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress trophies in a single year (2005) at the Filmfare. She is also the first and only actress to date to win both the Filmfare Critics' Choice Best Actress and the Filmfare Best Actress awards during the same year for the same film.

Happy Birthday Rani! ❤️
Rani is truly one of the BEST actresses that Bollywood has ever had. I've always been a fan and will always be one. I wish she wasn't so picky with scripts though because I love watching her on screen. She's always been a powerful actress and her EYES are everything ❤️
Plus who hasn't danced to "Piya Piya" with their sisters/friends? I sure know me and my cousins/sister sure did 😛

Anyway can't wait to watch Mardaani!
Go girl go! You rock!

🥳 🥳 👏

Awww that sounds so fun! Me and my sister would dress up and dance to it around the house, and bug everyone 😆

Also, I loved Aiyya! Especially that scene where she meets possible rishtas and shes trying to act shy 😆

I also cried when I watched Saathiya she looked STUNNING in the "saathiya" song

Awww :) Lovely thread. I wish Rani all the very best and may she have many many more. One of the better actresses in Bollywood - can never forget how much in awe I, including the rest of the world was, after walking out of the cinema hall of Black.

Aiiyya.. ishaa... agabaai 😳 Yes, I watched Aiyya for her 😳 I didn't find the movie horrible. One of the other performances I liked of Rani is Chori Chori Chupke Chupke - she was great as the supportive wife who encourages her husband to have a baby with another woman as she cannot bear one. That scene in the end when Preity and Rani have a confrontation is amazing 😛👏

Piya Piya O Piya Piya was one of my fav song when I was little. 😳 Loved her in Yuva, Chalte Chalte and Bunty Aur Babli <3 Ahh, just loved her there. And who can forget Tina from KKHH <3 I wish she had a bigger role in the film coz she was just so damn gorgeous. 😊

Rani excelled in her acting abilities in Aiyyaa, but if I had to list one movie as her worst it would have to be Aiyyaa especially because of the high expectations it had.
