I see so many posts today that complain of Sanyukta's insensitivity and lack of understanding for Randhir's situation even after knowing the truth about Renuka Sanyal, and how she has become so self centred and cares only about herself and dream team. Randhir is the way he is because of his traumatic past while Sanyukta is being plain insensitive etc. While it would have been really nice had Sanyukta been a bit more empathetic to Randhir, is she really so wrong and has Randhir been any different regarding Sanyukta's issues? Lets try to put it in perspective. If Randhir had a difficult past, did Sanyukta have an easy past? Or has a funfilled present? Or even a promising future where she has an assurance of getting to the place she deserves after all her hard work and determination. Everydyay for her is a constant struggle to snatch one more day before the inevitable strikes and she is forced to give up on her career and dreams. If Randhir has only the support of his father, for Sanyukta its only her mother. Her father and brother have never supported her or understood her, and in fact try to do everything to humiliate her and make her feel sorry. Is it any easier to fight against your own family at every single step than being lonely? Atleast Randhir has luxury and certainty of choosing his future and his career the way he wants, Sanyukta doesn't. And yes therefore she has to be self centred or think only about her team's victory, because she has to prove herself every single time, if she falters even the tiniest bit, her loving father and brother are there to take her away even from the shadow of FITE.
Now we come to her insensitivity about Randhir's situation. Why didn't she melt then and there. Did Randhir melt then and there when he came to know how hard Sanyukta had to fight against her family for her studies, or how her father and brother treat her? Did he feel sympathetic when Sanyukta's marriage was being fixed which effectively meant a dead end for her education, her career and her aspirations? No he was overjoyed, and in fact made sure that the guy agrees to marriage, just because Sanyukta's presence "irritated" him. Didn't he know how much she cares for her dreams and wasn't it plain sadistic on his part? At least Sanyukta did it for dream team. What valid excuse Randhir had? Did he show any sensitivity when her brother rejected her for internship, except of course mocking her (yes it was triggered by that scarf, but did Sanyukta wear it intentionally?).
We are ready to give limitless time to Randhir to change and sort out his emotions. Its perfectly OK if he takes one step forward, and two step backwards. Then why not extend same time and same privilege to Sanyukta too? Fine she didn't appreciate Randhir's situation immediately. But she will with time once it sinks in. Just as Randhir is shaped by his lonely past, Sanyukta is shaped by her past and present where she has to fight for everything and prove herself every time to have some control over her destiny. And yet her future remains uncertain and at mercy of others. Just like Randhir's pain and competitive spirit doesn't allow him to be the person he can be; in the same way sometimes Sanyukta's struggle and survival instinct doesn't let her be the person she actually is. So give her some leeway.
PS - I wont be able to reply to the posts due to time constraints, but feel free to discuss. Just wanted to give an alternative POV.
