If you are looking for a contemporary tragic love story that is grounded in reality, Ishaqzade fits the bill. Ram Leela looks tacky and overblown.

If you are looking for the Indian version of the classic Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet with it's grandiose theater, pomp, the classic balcony scene and so on, Ram Leela fits the bill perfectly and Ishaqzade looks very ordinary next to it.

Both films have a vastly different POV though they tell the same story so none is better for me, just similar and different in many ways.

I preferred Ishaqzaade to be quite honest. It's one of my fav movies from recent times - Arjun was AMAZING In the film for a newcomer as Parma and so was Parineeti as Zoya... their moments, their story... the chemistry... it was just too good 👏⭐️

I liked RL too but I felt like Supriya Pathak stole the thunder there and I've seen Ranveer + Deepika do better work so it won't be as memorable for me as Ishaqzaade was which was handled completely by Arjun and Parineeti 😊

Ishaqzade was way better than RL.. RL was depressing as a whole movie.. compared to that Isshaqzade was much more refreshing and Arjun-Pari chemistry was better than Ranveer-DP

The most likable thing about RL is Nagada sang dhol.. loved Deepika in it <3

RL was so poorly made, SLB is terrible now..no hopes from him to make something like HDDCS

Isqzaade was much better movie. it had proper story, acting , direction, songs. Movie made sense, while RL didnt.

Whether one is better than the other is subjective and depend on people's tastes. I am not a fan of either, to be honest.

Ishaqzaade had a good first half and it goes downhill during the second half story-wise for me. I honestly didn't relate to Pari's character at all. I mean, this guy pretended to love her, married her, slept with her and then left her - all this to take revenge because she had just slapped him. She loathes him for like 5 minutes but then continues to love him and remarries him, wth. I was expecting her to take revenge and kill him off or something lol.

Ramleela on the other hand was too much of a smoochfest for my liking; and also way too pompous and grand for me. And honestly, kinda boring at bits.

Idk which one is better. I don't like either. But the chemistry between the leads in both the movies were great.

Can I say I liked both the movies?

the chemistry in both the movies between the leads was fresh and refreshing for starters...

Ishaqzaade had some very good moments..I loved how the title song was shot..my fav part of the film 😳 Amit Trivedi is my fav so I loved the music and Habib Faisal is a very good director so I liked the movie very much...I was not on the forum during its release so I have no idea how ppl bashed it here 😆

and when it comes to Ram Leela, well I do love my dose of OTT sometimes 😆

Ranveer was great as Ram and DP did well as well...show stealer was defo Supriya Pathak though..

I am a gujju myself so I loved all the jazz as in colors and music...plz dont judge me😆

but yes SLB is over-rated at times and my only issue with the movie was the characters of Ram and Leela fallin in love and my biggest problem/issue was towards the end of first half why did Ram have to leave Leela alone at night to be with his friends...

ahh it was just a movie I guess...😆 but I still liked both the movies despite its flaws! 😳
