Part 16

He was definitely getting under her skin. He would eventually get his way. Control or no control. Great, she thought sarcastically.
Finally much to Geet's relief, the beast ride was put to a stop. Yet as the brakes screeched, her body fell sideways... Landing her entire wait on Maan. Her lips landed on his exposed chest as he let out an inaudible gasp. His hands flew around her waist tightening their grip as he looked at her with awe. As she recovered from the initial shock, her eyes flew open to his... She sticking up close to him like a koala bear. His expression morphed into a smirk as he watched her wide eyes.
The restaurant is hereHe whispered, his hot breath falling on her delicate lips. Their noses almost touching as his one hand raised to tuck a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. She was gobsmacked at his gentle gesture. Slowly she pulled back, sliding down to the ground gaining her composure. Maan too calmed himself, admiring himself for the gentleness he thought he was incapable of. He was proud to have drawn that awe-struck expression out of her. He parked the bike and returned sooner than she expected. He feared that she would disappear as soon his eyes went off of her but afraid to admit aloud that he cared. He cared for her more than anything else.
Clearing his throat to gain her attentionAhem... Shall we goHe held out his hand for her. She narrowed her eyes at him quizzically, but gave her hand to his nevertheless. She had already given up to comprehend what was going on in that complicated mind of his. She followed his lead as he led her to a corner seat. The waiter came up as soon as they sat. Once the waiter laid his eyes upon the hulking figure of Maan Singh Khurana, his insides were shaking.
H-hello s-sir? Your order pl-lease...He placed the menu infront of Maan and Geet. However Maan didn't allow her much time to ponder over it. Umm., two plates of non-veg afternoon lunch would be great... And the best pleaseMaan spoke with a stern smile. The waiter scurried away. The restaurant was best in few of its dishes however they pleased the customers, but will it please Maan Singh Khurana...the waiter had a major doubt.
Maan's phone started ringing. As his eyes fell on the intruder, his shoulders hunched up, tensed and worried. I... Sorry umm the call is important... I will be right backHis eye brows creased with worry as he walked away. He had a talk with the manager, while sending a soothing smile her way. The manager tensed up for a bit but then nodded walking up to another table.
Geet noticed Maan walking to the other side of the hall as he held the phone to his ear, probably uttering profanities for disturbing their moment. She laughed. His eyes, though, were trained on her, raking over her figure as if assuring himself that she was safe and alive. Her train of thoughts was broken when the manager cleared his throat. She was surprised to find a lady clad in black gown staring at her. She had too many necklaces around her neck and numerous ear piercings, a bunch of cards in her hands. A Tarot Card Reader... Geet realized as the manager introduced, This is Nina... She is a tarot card reader Ma'm... Sir had requested us to keep you engaged till he returns... I hope you would like itHe spoke nervously. Geet contemplated looking at Maan and finally nodded. Now that Nina and Geet were alone, Geet began noticing her closely as the lady shifted and shuffled her cards. Nina had a calm and composed face with a serene smile pasted on her lips. You radiate peace.Nina spoke out of blue. Geet was taken aback. Pardon?Nina just smiled in response. Your fiance worries too much about youShe laid out her cards as Geet stared at her in wonder. Sure Maan did worry about her, he did before all hell broke loose that night. Now she wasn't sure about his feelings, she thought bitterly. Nina looked at her curiously, Don't think too much.She spoke wisely.
Choose three cards please Geet hesitantly forwarded her hand gesturing the three cards. Nina picked the said cards and mixed them again. Choose one... It will be important... It will be your present... Present is important.. You need to act accordinglyShe whispered some italian words rolling her hands over the cards. Geet picked one as instructed. Very well..Nina kept the chosen card aside. She opened the other two as Geet gasped. One showed the dark looming sky, no stars... The mysterious darkness spoke everything of death, dullness, alone, vulnerable. Nina grimaced at the sight. The second card showed of a storm brewing in the vast sea as streaks of sunlight peaked through the clouds. A sliver of hope-filled rays. Nina smiled at her. I leave it up to you decide what you want... I will now show you what you need nowNina opened the first card Geet had chosen. It was of a girl letting a bird fly, into the bright lit sky... The heavy expanse of blue as the bird enjoyed its new-found freedom. You need to let go
Let go of what?She querried.
Something that you are holding backNina spoke cryptically.
I am notGeet spoke defensively. May be your feelingsNina teased jerking her eyes towards Maan. Geet blushed furiously, her cheeks acquiring the darkest shade of red. Her all efforts to not blush went in vain.
Past or Future depends on your decisions... In present however choose what you feel is right... Do not dwell on the past... Live the present. Just Let GoThe wise lady spoke, her eyes glazed. She finally took leave as Maan returned. Geet still pondered on her words as Maan wounded his arms around her shoulders tucking her closer. Are you okay?He kissed her forehead. Geet nodded slowly, her mind still stuck on 'just let go'.

Geet slowly walked towards him as if her presence would hurt him. She touched his bare back tenderly. He flinched.
MaanShe whimpered.
Maan sat up with a jolt, current running through his spine at her whimper. He feared to turn around and what would he see? Maybe hatred, disgust, loathing in her eyes or ... Love? He shook his head blocking the negative thoughts. With a smile he turned around only to find Geet launching herself at him. She hugged him as they fell on the bed, Maan below Geet on top of him. His back connected to the poking edges of books and note-books. Maan hissed in pain.
That shook Geet out of her own pain. She sat up immediately pulling Maan up with her to check his back. Geet ... Geet its okay...He tried to calm her down even though his back was paining like hell. Shut upShe admonished him placing a peck on his lips. Saying shocked would be an understatement. He was gobsmacked and dumbstruck. It was her first initiative for getting intimate. Her lips so sweetly addictive. Even for a short time, he felt like he tasted heavenly bliss like manna dew or something. Geet just blushed and looked over his back almost hiding her face behind him. As if on cue Nakul appeared, Oh Geet baby... Thank God aap aa gayi... He won't let any of us touch his wounds... He gets so wild when we touched... Ab now only you can tame himHe smiled smugly at Maan. Nakul went back and came after few minutes with warm water and white towel. Geet's eyes were filled. However she wiped even before he could notice. She began cleaning his wounds. With each wound, she was getting ticked off as he didn't allow to tend to his wounds. She smacked the back of his head, as she blew on the wounds applying dettol and then the antiseptic.Geet.. You are cryi- OwwHe squeaked incredulously trying to look back. Geet smacked him again. Don't you dare turn... I am putting the band-aids As soon she was finished, lava that was boiling inside her head burst out, she started smacking his head endlessly. He let her do that for few minutes but then she was crying loudly. It pained him too much. If the reason of his existence was in pain, so was he. He hugged her tightly, sobs raking her entire body. He slowly leaned and kissed her forehead. Don't make me feel so lucky.. It is all due to meShe mumbled with muffled sobs, into his chest. She pulled away as he cupped her face, their noses almost touching. His eyes flickered with an undefined emotion as he stared at her face endlessly admiring with awe , his lady love- she is such a gem of a girl, he thought smiling like a fool.
Maan... Do you hate me?She asked biting her lip to stop the heart-breaking sobs from escaping out.
No, where did she get these thoughts, he thought shocked. He racked his brains to say something that would convince her completely that it wasn't her fault. Geet...He cupped her face firmly. She had her eyes downcast. Look at meHe urged her to look at him as he spoke calmly and convincingly. She looked up. You are not at fault, Geet. Believe me when I say that. Umm?He looked into her eyes pleading. She nodded. I umm...He licked his lips nervously, stroking her cheek with his thumb softly. I shouldn't have gotten drunk...He apologized softly.
I am sor-She cut him off.
You promise not to get drunk again...She asked. As long you will be with me, I won't get drunk.He said sadly. She began to protest but thought otherwise and nodded.
Geet... You won't umm... Wear that saree again right?
Why?
It reminds me of that nightHe spoke solemnly. I will try.She said not sure as she really wanted to wear it on her engagement. She knew for sure that Maan will never let her go now. An engagement with Maan wasn't far fetched now.
Just then Nakul came informing about the food being ready. Geet pulled away as Maan held her armPromise me Geet...You won't wear it againHe spoke impatiently, selfishly.
Come home with me, uncle is worriedShe changed the subject. She didn't want to fight with him now. No!He groaned frustratingly. He gulped seeing her pointed stare face-palming himself.

Maanu... Baby... I think its not a good idea... We are happy here... Let them be... They are my family...Rahul said nervously. He knew Vikash was upto no good. It was going to cause only pain for Maanu. He didn't want her to be in pain. He wanted her to love him back. Stay away from troubles mainly Vikash. But Maanu remained adamant. Rahul berated himself, cursing him each day for falling for Vikash's tricks just for petty money and status. Now that came to bite his back. PleaseHe pleaded almost begging her. Maanu was cold emotionless as she placed her hands on her flat tummy. Why are you supporting them now? You never didShe spat. He couldn't say anything else as it would have alerted Vikash who sat nearby.
FineHe spoke dejectedly. As they discussed their plan, Rahul was shocked. Did Vikash even have a soul? It was his family there, he was trying to snatch their property and break Maan-Geet relation, stomping on Sanjay's dreams. Why do I have to touch Geet?He spoke angrily gritting his teeth. I am married UncleHe was furious. He wanted to punch Vikash and kill him then and there but now that Vikash had involved Maanu, Rahul realized, he had no escape. It will add effect.Vikash shrugged smirking smugly, eyeing Maanu's stomach, threatening Rahul about the baby. Maanu remained oblivious about the exchange of stares.
Isn't it true Maanu?Vikash urged Maanu and that did the job. He will do itShe said hoping that Rahul will deny it with more vigour. Rahul stared at Maanu, the baby- her stomach, and then at Vikash dumbstruck. Vikash is a sick psychopath, he thought. He sighed defeated, I will do it. Her already broken heart crashed and shattered.
