TRP is everything. In India , saas-bahu serials rule.
Historical and mythological serials cost a lot more than ordinary saas-bahu shows. There are sets to consider, makeup, costumes, CGI, outdoor shooting etc, Therefore the return required on these serials is more than on ordinary Saas-Bahu shows.
Most historical serials in the past 10 years have failed, examples include Shivaji, Chandragupta, Rani Padmini etc.
Even Mahabharat on Star Plus is not doing too well. It is the costlies serial made(100 crore Rs on production) but it got just 7000 TVT rating last week.
So, the makers of Maharana Pratap should not get into a complacent mood. They should work hard to introduce new ideas, new tracks, finish tracks which are not doing well, most importantly they should not drag the story.
