Love story, not war story

Hi Friends,
Just to remind everyone this is the story of Jalal and Jodha and it's a love story or rather the story of how they fell in love. It's not the story of Akbar the great - so all those who keep clamouring for wars, please settle down 😃 Even the real Akbar didn't always keep fighting wars, u know.

It's a historical love story between a husband and wife who took time to understand and love each other. It's not a modern love at first sight movie. So have patience.

Akbar wasn't born great. He became great over a long period of time. Jalal is just 21-22 in the show. To compare him with a middle-aged Akbar the great is unfair. This is how he metamorphosed and it's a wonderful chance for us to see how an ordinary ruler became a legend even in his own lifetime and is still a legend after so many centuries. It's a wonderful chance to see how a fiery, tomboyish princess became the graceful queen (mother) of Hindustan and influenced such a great emperor.

Just because Akbar is an emperor doesn't mean he doesn't have personal/domestic problems. Any man who has so many wives will have to get involved in smoothing out ruffled feathers once in a while. So please stop criticizing Jalal for getting involved in harem affairs. He became great because he could manage his harem and his sultanate together with ease. 😆

If you have read Akbar-Birbal stories, u will find that people came up with sillier issues to Akbar than Jodha has so far brought up with him. In those days, kings were accessible to people and people went with very minor problems also to the king for redressal, for the king was to them like a father-figure.

Another thing is, people keep changing with time, circumstances and the people around them. I don't know why many people want Jalal and Ruq to remain the way they were at the start of the show. A lot has happened in their lives since then. And they have changed. Jalal has become less autocratic, more in tune with what people want and is now more of a subtle strategist than an overt dictator. Ruq is no longer the Queen Bee to be secure and happy. Now she is threatened and risks losing Jalal and her special audha. She is therefore more insecure and therefore more prone to keying up by others and throwing tantrums over trivial issues.

I would say those who can't see the show should just stop watching it. And let the ones who are following it enjoy the show in peace. I really appreciate DIvya for managing to bring out positivity in even dull episodes 👏

Enjoy the show while it lasts!

I agree with most of your points. I think people are more disappointed of CVs lack of characters inconsistent and continuity of tracks. People are also tired of repetative dialogues between Ruqu-MA and MA-AK. Furthermore, people are also tired of seeing repetative eye-locks, handholding, head massage and boat ride. They are not expecting hugs and kisses at this stage but other new ideas of romance scenes.

I agree with each and every reason you gave for people being disappointed with the show. Nice answer.

Radhika very good point👍🏼

I had made bit similar point but about war scenes
See this is 16th Century and it took days if not weeks to travel distances for war, if we have war then we will get to Jalal on war field with his army and Jodha at haram😕

Where will they show the interactions or developing of their characters?
I think they showed lot more war scenes when they were establishing the characters in initial stages

Jalal is 21 or so here and so is Jodha

He WAS an extremely cruel ruler and Jodha was a fiery proud Rajvanshi princess

They would not have met under normal circumstances but they did because they were to become Akbar the Great and Malika-e-Hindustan

I like to think they started on worst footing and then fell in love and they got out the best most magnificent from and in each other

I would certainly like to see more consistancy and more of leads
Less of MA-Ruk scenes cos anybody who has watched JA can now easily write their dialogues they are so repetitive

We REACT to their characters as they are shown and I do want to see more of solving MUs and NOT going back on what they have already shown!
That is whether Jalal is in love??!!!!

Love love love love this post !!!!! here's a virtual hug for u if u don't mind 🤗
What i feel is that this show is all about Jodha Akbar and their love story, if everything is shown in a straightforward method and there's only upward progression with no backtracking, no MUs, no doubts, no anger, no hurt, no angst, no jealousy and only love in the beginning of their love realization (which is now) then how long is the show supposed to last and what are the CVs supposed to show if they become one so soon??? 🤔
I can clearly see an emotional bond happening slowly, the heavy romance and the close scenes will happen too but better for me if I expect it at a slow pace 😊
I am taking the show one epi at a time and enjoy it to the fullest without worrying about whats gonna happen next n end up liking alll the epis 🤣 funnn

I too agree its a epic love story of 16th century.
And they cant show many war scenes in serila (think of the budget too) + its not history they want to show but love story.
Infact I like the way they are showing the slow pace of thier love is because we need to remember in what circumstances they met.
Jalal was arrogent and cruel and he would not tolerate anyone going agsinst hime and he could not tolerate anyone saying No to him.
Jodha equally stubborn, very proud to be Rajvanshi and hated Mughals. So when they were in such state love was far far from them . So CV's had to show the slow pace and guess even in real it was slower than this(thats why Salim was born after 7 yrs)

awesome post 👏👏
Completely agree with your words.

Jalal is just 21-22 and on the way to become Akbar the great. This journey has started but he still has long way to go. Many expect too much from him. He has taken some great decisions but some not so great ones as well. What else can one expect?? He is a young monarch who is trying to get out of the influence of power-hungry people. Only 6-7 months ago he used to rush to MA for every decision but now even MA's absence in DEK doesn't concern him much. He has also found a better advisor for himself. Isn't that progress?? Give the dude some space to breathe.

He is very inolved in the harem. But he needs to be so. The harem forms his family or atleast a part of it. He is considered the head of his family. So, is it too wrong to be involved there?? Harem forms a very important part of the palace. Is he supposed to ignore the discontent brewing there?

Also the part about Ruq's characterization by you is perfect. 👍🏼

She definitely was a different personality initially. Classy, secure, ruthless and intelligent or atleast we thought of her to be like that. But it is said that a person's true character is laid bare only in testing/trying situations.

Her audha and supposed monoply of Jalal are at risk now. And she has pulled out her claws to scratch anybody who goes against her. She has become nasty, disrespectful and over-overbearing ('coz she was already over bearing).

To her credit, things are bound to get ugly in a tug of war but never thought Ruq would react this badly in her insecurity. For she is queen. And has been for years. But people at the very top become arrogant easily and when they are being brought back down to earth, they throw tantrums and behave rather pettily. Just the way Ruq is behaving. Her character develpoment is pretty much bang-on.

Some might say this development in her characterization is just to eulogize Jo & they have degraded her character and this reaction by Ruq can't be real as she was shown very differently in the starting. But the initial characterization of Ruq could have been a facade too. And the one they are showing now, is the real Ruqaiya. Ever thought like that? 😉
