Heyyy everyone...!!!
Well am here with my very first OS n it's on Rahi... N if it's a time waste then Geet and Anjali are the guilty party since they literally coerced moi to write... But seriously hope to not waste your time.. N I need to credit my friend Ankita since she came up with the basic premise.. Thanks anki!!! Love u dear...
Have slightly tweaked the story... The first year f college s almost over.. Panchi Rastogi s the college president n best friends forever with Kia Gujral. Kia s madly in love with Keshav Desai (who else..!!)
And Ranveer s KD's cousin... & yes it's 14th february today...no m not over with Valentine's Day yet...
Hehehe.. So here's my version f it...
I turned down the volume f my stereo system and picked up my phone. I knew who it was even without looking at it. Kia was calling.
"Hello? - Panchi what took you sooo long...I was getting worried... What were you doing right now?" n Kia went on till I told her "M busy babe".
"Panchi don't lie... I know you must have been listening to music with your pink curtains drawn".
I looked guiltily at the pink curtains n finally said "Accha Kia tell me...what is it?".
"Well then, let's go to Kd's house tonight" Kia squealed.
"But Kia" I began "ain't it Valentine's Day today??...what do I do with you love birds today..?"
"Shut up Panchi...Kd has organised this small celebration with close friends n of course you have to come".
"Fine...I'll get ready" I said not wanting to argue with my best friend.
"M coming in 15..." Kia announced n hung up.
I knew that I will be bored there. What with those couples cosying around as if there is no tomorrow. I decided to hide myself in some corner invisible from everyone else. Don't get me wrong.. I am not antisocial. These lovey dovey gatherings get on to me. I prefer keeping myself busy with college n presidential duties... I looked at the watch. 5 minutes gone. Shittt. Kia will be there in 10...and rushed to the bathroom.
I slipped on my simple teal coloured top, black slim fit denims n put on my new Cue jacket. I let my hair open n added a dash of kajal n lip gloss.
A few minutes later Kia arrived n started honking the car. I rushed down...
"Chalein?" Kia asked. To which I nodded. She started the car n her bak-bak too. I hadn't been to Kd's house before n finally Kia's infectious energy got to me. I was blessed to have such a friend...my ultimate rock f strength. N so for her decided to cheer up a little.
Then something struck me n I asked "Kia, who else will be there..?".
"Just a few friends birdie..not many" she said without getting specific.
"No Kia" I said getting serious "are you trying to set me up with someone? Let me tell yaa, m happy single so please don't.. I do not need a boy friend".
Kia suddenly pulled on to the side n stopped the car.
"Panchi...you just can't be living like this. Either bugged by college work or else all alone, doing nothing at all...".
"not all day...I mean I don't do nothing at all" I interrupted.
"Okay" so Kia asked "what were you doing before I called?"
"Music" I mumbled more to myself but she heard me.
"See that's what I mean...who does that on valentine's day??!!"
"Well not everyone has that perfect boyfriend like you" I countered.
Kia blushed but continued "listen Panchi just don't be quiet when we get there. There's no harm in making friends right?"
"Okay" was all I said but Kia smiled n gave me a small hug. She started driving again. We reached in a few minutes.
"Kia you are finally here!!" Kd gushed n pulled her into a bear hug. She looked at me n Kd positively beamed. "Panchi thanks so much for coming" he exclaimed as he gave me a side hug.
What I didn't notice was the little smile that Kia n Kd shared.
We walked in. I softly awed at the tastefully done interiors n was checking out the latest Tyeb Mehta painting when Kia n Kd came up behind me n dragged me into the lounging room.
"Others are waiting" Kia explained and opened the door.
The room was filled with music. A girl strummed the guitar while a guy was singing. She was Sheeba n he Pratham...the newest love birds in college... lost in each other's eyes as she sang 'Kahin toh hogi woh'.
The song got over n Kia announced "hey guys...meet Panchi". I waved. Most of them were from my college. Everyone waved back n the hi's began. But there was a guy who said nothing. H just stood where he was, busy with his can of red bull. I was sure he was looking at me. N from whatever I caught he seemed that perfect alpha male...tall, good looking, handsome, immaculately dressed with intense black eyes. His carefully messed up hair looked perfect against his pale skin. What the hell was I thinking..!!
I jolted myself back to reality when Kia asked me to switch on the music player. I silently cursed myself for such thoughts n began my journey to the music player.
I tried to walk carefully past the scattered beanbags, soda cans, cushions n bolsters. But the next moment I tripped n fell on to something rather someone. I looked up with one eye n it was that guy. The only slight difference was that he now had the entire content f the redbull can on his shirt n of course some f it had found its way to my jacket too. I blushed a little. I was literally on top f him.
I quickly stood up n stuttered "I I am so s-sorry...that was a mistake...I'll clean it up for you" and immediately regretted making a complete fool f myself. But he simply stood up n moved out f the room without a single word.
Kd was next to me the next moment.
"Panchi are you okay??" he asked concerned.
I nodded n unable to control myself asked him in return "Do you think he was mad at me??"
He gave a small smile n said "Don't worry about Ranveer...he's just a little grumpy...always was. He's my cousin from the US...landed in India last night. N btw he will be joining our college from the next term. Had to discontinue his studies there since my aunt wasn't keeping well n wanted him close to herself. So its been all too fast for him. Guess he will take time to open up n must be badly missing his friends there."
"Oohhh" I said n thought what a great way to start the party.
"Uh.. Where is the bathroom Kd?"
"Walk straight down...third room on the left". I thanked him n left.
I walked down the hallway n opened the bathroom door. I walked in still lost in thoughts and managed to not notice that the lights were on n that someone was there. Ranveer. He was standing there shirtless while he cleaned his soaked shirt in the basin. He had a really nice body. All toned n lean. I blushed and quickly looked away.
"I I am very sorry. I didn't notice that you were in here" I said talking to the walls.
"Don't worry about me. M done" he offered.
I slowly turned n found him buttoning his now clean shirt. But he hardly looked at me even once. His voice suited him so much...deep n rich...n I so wanted to hear it. Wait..what was i thinking..!!! I needed to ignore him. N so decided to look right through him as I waited for him to leave. I was staring into the mirror looking at nothing in particular when I saw him looking at me. I suddenly giggled surprising him too.
" You could go now" I said as I shooed him away with my fingers.
"Uh m Yea" was all that a nearly pink Ranveer managed as he quickly closed the door.
I took off my jacket and started cleaning it. After I was done I decided to let it hang for a while there itself. I walked back to the lounging room. But was surprised to find it empty. But then heard voices coming from the garden area n moved on. I found everyone sitting in a circle.
"Hey Panchi..come join us! We're playing truth or dare". Kia shouted.
I shrugged n sat next to her, across me was Ranveer. I looked somewhere else but him. Just looking at him in that wet shirt n the way it hung on to his perfect torso made me blush real hard. N him without it was still afresh in my mind. The game, thankfully, started n the first to go was Kd. He chose dare n got busy lifting n twirling Kia around as everyone clapped n cheered for them. I was finally enjoying, watching my buddies happy when I noticed Ranveer staring. I gave a small smile. He smiled back too. I had no clue why it made me feel weird, too many sensations passed through me all at once. But i must say his smile could warm the coldest of winter nights just the way it warmed my heart right then...just that it was too far n infrequent.
The game went on. The evening wasn't so bad after all.
God!! Had i spoken too soon..i thought when I suddenly found the bottle pointing towards me.
"Truth or dare??" Kia asked
I chose dare, it seemed more fun n well logical too.
Suddenly Kia had that gleeful early-diwali look on her face and began "I dare Panchi to a paper dance with Ranveer".
Everyone agreed to it. Ranveer was stunned n so was I. Both our eyes were big n wide. Well our reactions matched too. Uff...what was I thinking!!!
"Whattt.. No Kia..." I began but was rudely intercepted by Kia.
"Panchi you can't back out now. You aren't a loser. I'll go get the paper" Kia left the room n came back in a few seconds. "Start guys".
Ranveer looked at her n then shifted his eyes to me n we stared for a couple f seconds. He eventually got up. I gulped.
"Just go" Kia pulled me up.
The music started...Zehnaseeb. What was the need of a romantic number!! Kd!!! Just let this party b over, I fumed. I felt uncomfortable. I could tell Ranveer was too. His body felt tense. We just moved somehow, holding onto each other so as to not step out f the paper. Soon the crowd cheered for a paper fold n the paper was halved.
The first stanza wasn't over yet. We got closer. N I could literally feel his breath on my neck as I danced with my back to him. N he had his arms around me. But something changed in those few seconds. It felt good to be there - a feel very new to me. Suddenly it was not all that uncomfortable. The song finally got to us I guess. He evidently was very good at this. I just had to follow him as he went on. He was pure magic. The space constraint was nothing as he managed to smoothly twirl me. It was the time for the paper being folded further. I dint mind. Both my hands found his shoulder n his my waist. He even managed to lift me in that small space. I was enjoying myself to say the least.
It was right at this point that it started raining. I saw everyone running away from the garden. I decided to as well. Was just stepping out of the paper when Ranveer pulled me inside with a jerk. The song was still going on. Our faces were just an inch apart. We started dancing again n it seemed the most perfect thing at that moment. The world had stopped moving. It was just him n me. I put my head on his chest n had my arms around his neck as we swayed ever so slowly to the music. We dint utter a word. I had no clue for how long we stood there when loud cheers brought us back to reality. It had even stopped raining. How long were we like this!! I was red, wet n embarassed. I hurriedly removed my arms which still hung around Ranveer's neck n just stood there. Ranveer stood there rooted too. Neither f us knew what to do next. Thank god Kia came up to me right at that point of time n Ranveer walked off towards Kd.
"Panchi kya hua tha tumhe? I have never seen you so lost!!" Kia asked me as soon as we were alone.
"Nothing Kia..we were just dancing" I said nonchalantly, trying to undermine whatever happened.
Suppressing a smile Kia went on "Well then, go change or do you plan to fall sick tomorrow?"
I looked down at my drenched top n looked back at Kia "But what do I wear?"
"Just go to Kd's room on the first floor..you'll find my bag there. Wear anything you want".
I gave her a thankful hug "You're my saviour sweetie" n rushed out f the room. Ranveer was still talking to Kd.
I found Kd's room n Kia's bag n thought f teasing her about her bag in Kd's room. I silently chuckled at the thought n walked into the bathroom n changed into Kia's short blue dress. I cinched it with my belt at the waist so that it fit me perfectly now. Oh well I was done. But then I saw Kia's hair dryer there n decided to dry my dripping hair. I was in my own world n didn't even hear the door f the room opening. I was done. I got out.
N froze.

How did he land there??!!! And shirtless too... The second time around in less than an hour??!!!
He was changing. I turned around. After a few seconds of silence I decided to walk towards the door with my head down. But then I was stopped by someone. It was Ranveer.
I swallowed "Uhmmm.. I'm leaving. It's all yours." n started to walk away. Even before taking a step I was stopped. He had ever so gently grabbed my arm. We stood there like that for a few seconds as I suddenly felt all tingly at the mere touch of his fingers. What was happening to me!!!???
I finally turned around n gave him a confused look. I was confused. I didn't really understand my own emotions then.
"Your dress still has the price tag attached" he said finally breaking the silence.
"Ohhh" was all that I said. I felt a tad bit disappointed. But then moved to the mirror n he was right.
I was about to remove it when he stopped my raised hands.
"I'll get it" and without waiting for my answer his face inched closer and closer to mine. There was not an inch f air between us. N then the next moment his lips found mine as he gave me a swift kiss.
I froze.
What is he doing!!! But the very next moment he looked at me again with his passionate eyes without moving away. We stood right there silent. It seemed the most logical thing at that moment.
"I'm sorry but I had to do this" was all that Ranveer said after a few eternal seconds.
Before I could say anything else he kissed me again. It felt...different n different in a good way. It felt like love. Felt like I was wanted n loved by someone. It felt out of this world. The world had come to a stop for me as I responded with equal fervour to Ranveer's passion. N I didn't want it to stop.
Finally when we broke away we were breathless. Both our faces turned red.
"S-sorry" Ranveer said when he finally found his voice and continued "I couldn't stop myself. You're the most beautiful person I've seen in my life. Sorry but I had to do...". He suddenly stopped midway n said "Guess I will just leave...".
This time I stopped him.
He looked surprised at me. I smiled back at me. He too had that small to-die-for smile on his face.
He came closer to me n it felt perfect again. N entwined his fingers in mine.
"From the moment I saw you walk in through the door" he laughed "n m sorry if it sounds filmy...but that's how it is...I knew that you were the one n only...the one only for me. I didn't say anything cause I would definitely have scared you outright n well also cause I never thought that you would fall for a grumpy stranger. You are beautiful, delicate, friendly, warm n amazing n you look out of the world when you blush n I need to excercise all the control in the world when you do blush just as I am doing now".
My body seemed to be in a trance. No one ever said that about me before. I was still in a shock as how could someone dream-like fall for me. It was beyond me. I didn't say a word. I simply pulled him n kissed him again. He was shocked for the initial moments but then it was magical.
"I love you too..." I managed to tell him.
And he pulled me into a bear hug of warmth, compassion n eternity.
We remained like that for a long time till I managed to look at the clock.
"Ranveer we need to return...its been an hour since we came here" I said n though he was reluctant, he finally agreed.
We walked back to the hall together. Suddenly everyone stopped whatever they were doing to stare at us. N I went red.
"What have you guys been doing?" Kia asked on seeing us.
"Nothing" I said casually.
"Ohhhkkk.." she said not too convinced but got distracted with the still there price tag.
"Panchi...wait...let me remove the price..."
And even before she could complete the sentence Ranveer n me looked at each other n eventually burst out laughing.
Well guys that was my version f rahi.. Forever made for each other. I can't see them with anyone else nor without each other so made it love at first sight.
