I know after 7 years in the US you can petition the court to declare someone as being deceased if they have been missing for 7 yrs, not sure what the laws are in india. I can't see otherwise how he would be able to remarry, but maybe they obtained a divorce and the CVs will show it when they do the backstory of the separation.
