Indian Idol III gets tougher

Sony Entertainment Television is ready with the third season of Indian Idol promising to be bigger, better and tougher. This time the talent-hunt has a couple of new judges in Alisha Chinai, Udit Narayan and Javed Akhtar along with the resident judge Anu Maliik. With the addition of the fourth judge in Akhtar, the competition is expected to reach another level. As Akhtar puts it, "We have a combination of sur, bol and awaazein and the contestant will be judged on all fronts." The winner besides signing a recording contract with Sony BMG, will be awarded a contract with Sony Entertainment Television worth Rupees one crore. Judging will be tougher this time informs Maliik adding that the show will come up with amazing talent. Narayan who is judging the show for the first time is "a little shy, but I am sure others will cover up for me." Chinai is "flattered to be a part of the distinguised panel and is hoping to zero in on one voice with a special quality." For the first time auditions will be held in Dubai for NRI participants besides the twelve cities in India.
