When an actor owns a role like Ashish does with Rudra

Sometimes roles are written to suit actors and sometimes actors make a role theirs, they just own the space and that is when they get adulation and a ton of fans
That is what is happening with Rudra/Ashish. I doubt if the role was written for him specifically but the way he has got under the skin of this character, it is just amazing. There is a right mix of manliness, bossiness, softness and vulnerability and some solid spine... Man the way he stands up to that "witch" (the actress there by the way is doing a great job too) is amazing. I started the show late... but a few episodes of watching this man in uniform and that action sequence... where he kills Paros husband and I was hooked.
Paro (Sanaya) on the other hand I feel is still settling into the role. Also, her dialogues at present are few, so maybe that's why I am feeling this disconnect. Another thing missing for me right now is raw chemistry between Rudra and Paro (It is there between Laila and Rudra, even in that one scene). This is not to say that Sanaya is not suiting her role.. but just that the explosive connection between two characters is somewhat at a low ebb... specially in scenes when they talk...
I suspect that is also because the show is yet to move into romance. I hope they do not hurry that part and go slow and show with as much logic as possible why Paro would fall for him and why he would fall for her. But it is early days yet for that.
Also, it would help if we start seeing Rudra questioning Paro a little about the guns, the village, the Thakur etc... it brings scenes of interaction and also build base for him to realize that she is innocent.
But this is really an appreciation of Ashish's depiction of Rudra... Good going dude...

I agree completely that Ashish and Ananya Khare are awesome actors and doing a fab job.

However, I disagree about Paro/ Sanaya. As Ashish said in his interview, it's a fire and ice story, where Rudra is the fire, the aggressive and forceful army man. Paro is the ice, calm, quiet, demure, innocent but strong woman. From episode one they have established Paro as a woman of few words, simple, innocent, barely educated and no exposure to the world outside her village. If you see the scenes of Paro in the prison, the pain, agony, desolation she goes through it is enormous. Sanaya nailed the scenes. Now after several attempts to earn freedom Paro is resolved in facing Rudra in her own quiet way. My personal opinion is with very few dialogues with just expressions and body language Sanaya is portraying Paro's innocence, simplicity, vulnerability and simultaneously her strength and resolve beautifully. It is very difficult to show such divergent emotions together without the support of many dialogues. Paro is a quiet and demure person, and chirpiness, aggression, loud is just not her and she will never be that, but weak she is not. For me Sanaya has settled into the role very well, and slowly Paro is finding her inner strength, after days of despair and crying Paro is slowly learning to come to terms and stand up to Rudra in her own way.

I agree with you totally about Ashish! He is fantastic and has made this role his own.
On the other hand totally disagree with you about Sanaya. For me she is Paro. I don't see a hint of Sanaya in her performance. In some ways I think she has the harder role. It is much more difficult to portray a quiet personality rather than more verbal one. I feel she lives Paro and this is by far my most favorite performance of her's.

Its very easy to make an impact with dialogues scenes lines and sequences written around a character and I guess here the screen writers have gone overboard Both the male protagonist and female antagonist have been given that smorgasbord that takes them to a higher level Much as I admire the characters I also possess the wisdom to know that the writers have done the job else they would not be so impactful
There is a difference between Julia Child who crafted her art via a cordon bleu school and a Nigella Lawson who arted (sic) her craft by trial and error Both are brilliant cooks just different methods and I get the heroworship for Rudra but also know it's the way the script has been written I am able to go beyond and see how SI as Paro has brought about her own nuances This story will not work otherwise I am sure there are many who remember Christmas past with burnt offerings

Full credit to Ashish & Ananya, they are fantastic actors and doing a great job.
The scenes are well written as they have always been from the very beginning.

However, I think the role of Paro is a harder one to play because of minimal dialogues.
And Sanaya had perfected the simple nuances, voice modulation and ofcourse her expressions. Her scenes in the aftermath of her husbands death were done full justice by this actress par excellence. This by far has been her most challenging role and she has and continues to own the role.
