HAPPY NEW YEAR

Today is Vishu........celebrated by the Malayalis all around the world as their new year.....just like Baisakhi or Pongal.From yesterday night itself the preparations began.....the mum of the house arranges a thali with veges(bottle guard,pumpkin,raw mango,tomato etc;)fruits,rice,mirror,gold,silver,coins,kumkum,cloth...and the most important the yellow flower called Kani konna....in front of Lord Krishna....When all the children go to sleep....their mums light the lamp and goes to sleep....Early morning the first sight that we see shud be the decoration and the lamp spreading the light of prosperity and good luck....for the coming new year.The parents close their children's eyes and open their eyes only after taking them in front of the decoration called kanni (shubh darshan)😊

The kanni signifies that we shud have all the prosperity that we had in our previous year...from food,cloth,money and good luck,above all the grace of Lord Krishna....who is the aishwaryam of our house.😊

The best part comes after the kanni.😃The younger members of the house get gifts,money,jewellery and new dresses and the blessings from the elders of the house...especially grandparents....Then the entire family goes to the temple in the morning to pray and to thank god for the prosperity showered upon them by the God almighty😃It is really a wonderful and an enchanting experience in the temple, with the aroma of sandal wood,incense,bells ringing,burning camphor and the eye blinding brilliance of the idol of Bhagwan or Devi....😃during the deeparadhana(aarti)....

Then at noon there's a feast with all vegetarian delecasies on banana leaf with all family members from grand parents ,aunties ,uncles to cousins ,friends.....😃Yummy!!!!'am drooling....on thinking about the various payasams(Kheers)

It's a really great day to have lots of fun and fanfare......😃

And on this wonderful day,I don't want to miss a chance to wish all malayalis and also everyone in this wonderful forum....
