I hope every member on the forum reads it.
Your point about the disclaimer not absolving them of responsibility and accountability is absolutely valid. The comparison with surgeons is very very apt.
The protestors! I am not aware if you have read about the new "protest your way to publicity & money" trend nowadays. People stop films getting released at the last min filing suits, so earn huge amounts in the bargain from the producers. Who cannot afford to delay the release. So the merit of the protest is not tasted much by courts due to the out of court settlement to sort the issue in hurry. This is catch 22, cos PH cannot show the movie before release so cannot also say protests should be filed well before release.
Some protests die down after PH deals with them (how everybody can guess I need not write)
So even protestors cannot be taken seriously ALL the time. Who are valid and who do it for PR and as road to politics?!
What can we say about PH? Surely ATLEAST for historical shows they should keep the natkiya rupantar to limits, just make it watchable NOT COOK UP STUFF.
You are absolutely right in saying we keep watching so they give us drivel, but we are trapped
How much we all hated the Ben track, even though as per Abhay it was true event - the depiction of it made it just cheap and drove Jalal's character to a brainless male bimbo and Jodha to doormat. We hated but kept watching.
I sincerely wonder WHY when in this instance the ORIGINAL STORY has so much masala already do they need to add the masaladaan like you said.
Thanks for your comments Maddy,
Protest your way to publicity and money...OMG...is this happening in India now? i try my best to keep up with the latest in India but do miss out on things like this...I was wondering...I read about protests about Ramleela and then suddenly I didn't see anything in the news...I didnt search much but did have a question at the back of my mind...how did they finally resolve the issue?
This happens in the west as well...people exploit the system to their advantage all the time...I guess India is getting better at this too...
But, we as educated Indians should not be disheartened...The PHs take advantage of the fact that most of us are way too busy to devote time for ' relatively unimportant' social issues. Even If we devote 30 mins a day to something we feel strongly about...in this case distortion of our valuable history ...we will be heard just because there are so many of us...
