prologue
'what the hell maan!?? what is wrong with you? all the while when i was running after you with pictures of suitable girls, imploring you to get married, give me an heir, you were just not interested. infact you insisted on being a rake much to my dismay and dated every girl that came your way, even married ones. i had given up all hopes on you just like the way you always wanted it to be and now out of the blue you call me and tell me to be at this temple since you are getting married finally to some girl whom you never bothered introducing me to! if this is your idea of a joke young man then that's a poor one let me tell you." daadima thundered over the phone while maan heard with a fixed bored expression
"are you done?" he asked coolly over the phone
"what do you mean by that? you cannot dismiss me off just like that am your daadima..."
"yes i can because i am maan singh khurana"
a click and the phone was disconnected
savitri khurana couldn't believe that her grandson had actually clicked the phone off on her! on her! she was furious. all the years she toiled so hard to bring him up in a proper manner, to instill him with respect and love for his elders but now she just realized that she had failed miserably, he had grown up to be an arrogant, ruthless, conniving rascal inspite of sending him to the best institutions, having the best tutors at home to teach him about the society it's conduct, maan had turned out to be a disappointment. she sighed while she sat on one of the couches while she stared at the pictures of her decased son and wife and whispered, 'am sorry'. she just hoped, hoping against hopes that the girl he was getting married to bring in some change in him.
maan clicked the phone off and turned his contemptous gaze at his bride to be who still looked quite dazed and confused. she sat still in the couch staring at her hands, what an act! maan thought with distaste, the girl who was seated across from him, his bride to be was still carrying on with the charade as if she wanted all that was happening at the moment. he should have known, it was a ploy to entrap him, after so many experiences how could he have gone wrong with this. girls were all the same so were their mothers, all they were interested in was a catch! yes a catch, a catch with enough moolah so that they can spend their lives in luxury.
"why do you look so flustered? you should be happy, you have managed the catch of the year and succeeded in your scheme, am marrying you. i am the one who should be unhappy, but see am so calm, thanks to this" he said holding his glass up in mock toast
"believe me i didn't do anything, it was all unintentional" she mumbled
'you bet, it was" maan mocked
'yes it was i didn't know my aunt was there and i came to you at my will because i wanted my reputation to be sullied so that i be considered unmarriageable' she said
'yeah that was what even what i believed, but see you have managed yourself the most eligible bachelor' maan said bitterly
his tone made her look at him, and what she saw made her shiver, the same face that had been smiling down at her a few hours back that looked so serene in the dark that for once she had mistaken him to be an angel but what she saw now was a man with a glass of drink sitting right opposite from where she was seated with an ominous, murderous expression on his face, his eyes spewed contempt for her and the softness was gone. she felt miserable.
'i dont want to marry' she blurted
'yes offcourse' he answered silkily
'if you utter one more word about being innocent and about not marrying i promise i'll make sure you repent each alphabet' he snarled
silence lingered on in the room while she went back to staring at her hands, god had always been this unfair with her, first she lost her parents in a car crash when she was little and then she was shipped off to her aunt's place, who from the very beginning wanted her off her hands. ye she managed to grow braving all odds, studying hard was a necessity since she knew without her scholarship her aunt would insist she give up on her studies, luckily for her she loved to study, she was always a curious child and that helped, her thirst for knowledge always kept her glued to her books ansd she turned out to be a well learned, knowledgeable woman. but alas! all that was not enough for her maasi..."
"your name's geet right?" her thoughts were broken by her would be husband
'you are getting married to me and you dont even know my name" get bit out sarcastically
'yes' he snarled 'now answer'
'yes am geet'
'yes you are, and what a name, you indeed have a melodious voice, now that's the deception, your melodious voice, your angelic face and your innocent eyes are all a deciet, they are your mask, to hide your ugly face, your real intentions, this is how you trap men, isn't it? you and your aunt!" he bit out.
'now my beautiful bride to be, get ready, we are getting married in 2 hours' with that he strode out of the hall leaving a distraught and dejected geet to her misery.
now thats the prologue to yet another of my maan geet stories, i know i have already three going on but this one's gonna be sthort and sweet with only around 5 or 6 parts,do let me know whether i should continue or not. it's inspired once again from the work of one of my favorite authors judith macnaught
