Farhan to take over from Amitabh Bachchan?
Sources say Akhtar has been approached for a popular game show that the latter has been hosting for six seasons
Farhan Akhtar has been the toast of the awards season this year after the success of his last release, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB, 2013). Not only has the actor been a success at the box-office, but he has also gained critical acclaim for his role. And now, we've been informed that Farhan has been approached by a popular TV channel for their quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which Amitabh Bachchan has hosted for six seasons.
A source close to Farhan reveals, "Post the success of BMB, Farhan was flooded with a number of offers. In fact, after a month of the film's release, he was contacted to host a season of KBC. It seems that the team of the show is planning to attract younger viewers with their choice of host. As new aspects of the show will demand someone who can connect particularly with the youth, they have approached Farhan."
In the past, Shah Rukh Khan too has hosted a season of the popular game show and various celebrities such as Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and even Farhan himself have been part of special episodes. When contacted, Farhan's spokesperson neither confirms nor denies the news, only saying, "We will discuss his work only when any project deal has been sealed." Siddhartha Basu, the producer of the show, says, "I have no idea. Please contact the broadcasting (team)."
