Chapter 28

Vicky came in and saw Geet much fresher now.

"Geet, nice to see you so fresh. Have a look." Geet smiled broadly and looked at the paper. Three companies had caught her attention.

"I would like to know more about Indian Paints, Blue Island Hotel and this one here."

They looked at it. It was a German company.

"Why this one Geet?"

"I have spent a great part of life in Germany before I moved back here."

They were amazed. They hadn't known.

"So you know German?"

"I am pretty fluent. This will be a bonus to impress them"

Meetings were arranged and more work came up but no one complained.

At seven when everyone left for home, Adi took Riya and Armaan to his home since Pinky wanted to chat with them. Vicky asked Geet to dine with him and hoped she wouldn't refuse. She didn't. Geet changed into a simple anarkali dress. She hadn't worn there for ages now but today was like a new start to her life so she wanted to look good.

Raj drove them to Khurana Mansion.

"Vicky, where are we going?"

"Khurana Mansion"

"WHAT? You didn't tell me we are going to your place." Vicky knew Geet would refuse, not because of him but because of Maan.

"It is ok Geet. Dadi asked me to bring you over as Maan bhai will have a long evening at office thanks to us" he chuckled.

Dadi had told them all about Geet joining them for dinner. Shashank was happy. He knew how his mother had to work for KC to make it working again after his father's death and now Geet was in the same position. She really deserved praise for her hard work. Divya had asked Dadi about Geet. She knew her mother-in-law but Dadi had just said Geet was over because of Vicky. She didn't want to give Divya any hopes in case her plan of Geet and Maan didn't work out.

Vicky had to gently pull Geet into the big mansion. Geet was mesmerised by its beauty. The Khurana's welcomed her and as dinner was ready they directly went to the dining table.

"I still don't understand what you saw in Vicky to make him Executive MD" Dev asked after a while of chatting.

"The way I have known him he had great ideas. He just needed some space to try them out. Since I had no previous experience in all these matters I just let him do." Dev raised his brow.

"You do know that Vicky could have ruined you with his crazy ideas." Vicky pouted and every one laughed.

"Yes, but I have seen his dedication towards work. He is a little crazy but once he sticks his mind to work he can achieve a lot. He was intern when I first met him and after seeing his potential directly made him Executive MD" Everyone was stunned at Geet's trust in Vicky.

"What subject did you get your degree in?" Naintara asked.

"Biology."

"WHAT?" They all looked at her.

"You came from a science stream and are now running a successful company?" Shashank asked her in disbelieve. Geet nodded.

"Just like I said. I have to thank Vicky here. He had just finished business school and had new and innovative ideas in his mind. Plus I heard he had worked at KC, too, so he could easily assess what will and what won't work. Sometimes one should just get a chance to explore one's potential by trying. Doing something is the best way to learn I think." Shashank was shut. This was the reason Vicky didn't want to stay in KC. He knew Maan liked to run things his way and wouldn't listen to Vicky. Now when Vicky actually got the chance to do things his way he directly made it to Executive MD. Plus he was the one who believed observation is the best way of learning. He voiced his thought.

"With you back at KC Vicky I think we can get back up again." Vicky looked at him.

"Yes, KC can really profit from Vicky's ideas but there needs to be someone there who listens." They all knew what or rather who Geet was hinting at. They smiled.

Dinner came to an end and Dadi set her plan to work.

"Naintara, why don't you take Geet with you to Pari?" Naintara happily agreed and pulled Geet with her.

"Here hold her. This is my daughter Pari" Geet looked at the little angel in her hand. Pari was awake and trying to reach Geet's hair which was falling on her face. This was such a sweet gesture. Then little Pari yawned and rubbed her eyes.

"Looks like she is sleepy." But Geet kept holding her. Just holding the little bundle of joy and seeing the cute gestures made her feel an incredible pain. She returned Naintara her baby.

"You know, at the start I was really scared of pregnancies. I saw my sister with the huge stomach and the swollen feet and back pain and not to mention her mood swings. But when I went through it myself, I can tell you it was the best experience in my life. All the pain was forgotten when I held her in my arms the very first time." Geet was silent.

"Dev always said that he wanted a little daughter and I kind of agreed. Sons are nice, I wouldn't have minded but daughters are always a little special, aren't they?" Naintara looked at Geet.

"Geet?" Geet came out of her thoughts.

"Sorry I was lost somewhere." Naintara wasn't at the party so she didn't know about Sohan being dead and asked:

"Are you planning any baby?" Geet's head shot up. For the first time it actually dawned on her that she had a little life growing in her which was gone now.

"What are you doing Sohan?"

Sohan had pulled Geet's T-Shirt up to expose her belly. He kissed it and put his cheek on in hugging her waist.

"I am thinking that some day there will be a little life growing inside here. Our little baby" Geet smiled.

"What do you want, girl or boy?"

"Baby girl just like you and baby boy just like me and three of each."

"Six babies" Geet was shocked. Sohan nodded.

"Are you mental? Do you know how much pain I will have to go through?" she complained pouting.

"I know, but I will be by your side to ease your pain. I have read all about it. You will get swollen feet, back pain and mood swings. To be honest, mood swings is the easiest one. You are already so moody that I have good practice." Geet pulled his ear but she knew his little gesture meant a lot.

Geet stopped her thought as the one after that would be more paining. She excused herself and tried to move down. Tears were clouding her eyes as she was running down the stairs and she slipped. She rolled down and screamed in pain. In a minute everyone was at her side. The got worried seeing the tears and Geet laying there unconscious.

They took her to the guest room and called a doctor.

"You better call an ambulance. She has for sure an injury on her left shoulder and we better get her checked on internal bleedings." Dadi and Vicky exchanged a worried look. They didn't want Geet to get hurt.

Chapter 29

"Well, because of the impact of the fall her right shoulder is injured. Fortunately no bone is broken as such but it is going to pain and she will not be able to move her shoulder for some time. She has also sprained her ankle but there are luckily no internal bleedings." Vicky was happy it wasn't the same doctor as last time.

Since Geet was conscious she could go home now but Vicky wanted a word alone with her.

"Geet, are you ok?" He really felt guilty. Geet couldn't hold it in her and burst into tears.

"Vicky my baby...I want my baby back" she cried on his shoulder and he let her.

Maan had come home after a tiring day. Every minute he felt more miserable because of MC. Nakul informed him that everyone was at the hospital. He rushed out before Nakul could explain who the injured person was. When he reached there he saw his family go home, everyone was there apart from...Vicky. Maan had a bad feeling.

At the door of the room he saw Geet cry. Vicky was with her consoling her.

He wondered why it was always Vicky around Geet and not Sohan. He was never seen by anyone.

"Don't worry. Look, Sohan wouldn't want you to cry like this would he? It is not the end of the world. One day when you move on you can still fulfil your dream."

"You don't understand. This was Sohan's baby, the only thing that connected me with him. First Sohan left me and now the baby."

"Shall I tell you something, this may sound cruel to you but hear me out. Dadi had dad when Dada died. She concentrated on work just like you. And because she had dad she was always reminded of Dada because of which she could never really move on. Maybe faith has something better in store for you." Geet looked at Vicky. His words were hurting her but she knew he was right.

"Tell me, what did you think about marriage before you met Sohan?" Geet tried to remember.

"I don't know. All I remember is that I never was comfortable with all this dating stuff so my friend always set me up with random guys from the company." She laughed as happy memories flooded her mind.

"And, did anything work out?"

"Never. My friend had always tried her best but I was just not easily impressed. Most guys gave up on me." They laughed some more. Geet felt better now.

"Vicky, I want to go home." Vicky nodded. He called the nurse to help Geet change. Then he took her to his car and drove to MC. Maan had heard the conversation but was not sure what exactly was going on. Sohan's baby, this was a bit painful for him. The baby left, that meant... miscarriage? And Sohan left. He left her? Maan had to find out. His concern and likeness for Geet overpowered the anger and he followed Vicky. He was surprised to see Vicky driving to MC. Vicky got out of the car and took Geet with him. When neither of them returned he went to look. For the first time he looked at the directions board. The top most floor said Private. It might be there.

Maan knocked and Vicky opened the door.

"Bhai? What are you doing here?"

"I can ask the same." He saw Vicky in his t-shirt and trainers.

"I live here." Maan raised a brow. Vicky looked inside and led Maan out. The last thing he wanted was for Geet to see Maan. They went down to Vicky's office.

"Can I get an answer?"

"Geet had the apartment built when she renovated this place some time ago. After I left home she offered me to stay there."

"You are staying with Geet at her apartment?" Vicky understood Maan's tone. Vicky wondered how to explain.

"How did you know I was here?" Vicky asked.

"I rushed to the hospital after Nakul told me you all are there. I heard the convo between you and Geet. What is going on?" Vicky looked at his brother. Geet had told his family, Maan could know, too.

"Do you know why Geet took over MC?" Maan shook his head.

"Her husband Sohan died in a car crash shortly after their wedding. Sohan didn't have a thing for business so Geet took over. She didn't want to see the people lose their jobs. A few days into the work she collapsed and we rushed her to the hospital. She had a miscarriage there. You see don't you why she never left MC? It was not because she was MD but because all these people depended on her. And she even found time to help you out. She was not spying and I can put my hand in fire for this. Your words about Sohan have hurt her too much." Maan closed his eyes. He had misunderstood Geet all along.

"Tell me bhai. Do you like Geet?" Maan looked away.

"You do, don't you? I know. When I provoked you that day saying she isn't girlfriend material, your reaction proved it. Then why did you say all that?"

"I was jealous." Maan admitted.

"She was so indifferent towards me. I thought Sohan was MD here and then she not wanting to leave..." Vicky nodded surprised though that Maan admitted his feeling.

"You know Vicky, after Samira, I waited a long time for some one to come and pull me out of the hell I was in. I saw my chance in Geet but just pulled her into hell with me. She wanted to shake my hand at the party and I showed her my back. The coldness in her eyes for me I saw later is still driving me crazy." Vicky was happy for his brother. Dadi will be overjoyed. And it was high time Geet moved on too.

"You want to keep all this one sided?" Vicky asked after a pause.

"I doubt after the damage I have done she will accept me." But Vicky was sure that if Geet knew about Maan's past she might forgive him and his behaviour.

"Let's see bhai. I won't tell her you like her that is your job. But I will put in a good word for you."

"Why was she in hospital in the first place?" Maan remembered while getting up.

"Naintara bhabi showed Geet Pari. That must have brought back the memory of her own child. She ran down the stairs, slipped and landed in hospital."

"Any serious injury?" Vicky smiled at Maan's concern.

"Her ankle is sprained and her shoulder has taken some damage. She needs bed rest."

Maan nodded. He had done wrong and he was being offered one chance to set things right.
