In general I wish they would reduce the Zeus ka beta chant, especially Alexander saying that about himself.

Today's case is different, obviously. The whole experience for the Macedonian army in Bharat so far hasn't been easy, what with being ambushed when the peace treaty meeting turned into a battle and then the appearance of the elephants, the blast on the bridge, etc. After piercing the elephants eye, Alexander draws attention to the fact the weapon he used is one they are familiar with, that their Macedonian battle tactics still hold strong in foreign lands.

Aunty, agree with you that his first concern is how his men feel after being scared for his life, not theirs, which also tells you how much they loved and admired him. He literally defeated death to come back to them (with Hephaestion to the rescue, of course). The Zeus ka beta thing in this instance is a reminder of his invincibility and the past astounding defeat-turned victories they have experienced under his leadership. This is also his way of re-establishing his position of always leading from the front and being with his men through thick and thin. As a true emperor he is not going to desert them now, so far away from their homeland.
