That wasn't the best decision. It seems from the story so far that Manav has been an excellent father and I think Teju also said that Manav has fulfilled the responsibilities of a father and a mother. So why can't Tej understand her father's situation?

She knows that Manav is staying in India with her mom, because of the court order demands so. Its not his personal decision, rather the decision is inflicted upon him. So, that's his reason.

But, what is Teju's reason? Yes, she wants to see India, the country she was born in, has heard about etc. She wants to live the adventure, is fed up of vicarious experiences, this is her reason.

Difference: Teju's decision is based on personal will (yes, its selfish). As for Manav, he has no other option.

Thus, Manav's lie can be justified but Teju's not so much. Besides, talking in such vehement tone over a selfish decision, that is insolence. Teju is wrong.
