Is Verhsu self-centered

I read somewhere in the posts which sad that Vershu is being self centered in the scene where she talked about US without realising for a second that she was pregnant. I seriously think that she geniunely forgot in her excitement that she was pregnent and her mil over-reacted. Her mil has always been after her to leave her career for her child. I think vershu with a normal pregnancy can very well manage to work. There is no selfishness or self-centeredness in this? what do you guys think
