One Rainy Day

It was raining heavily outside. siddhi could hear the rain lashing on her roof. She had closed all the doors and windows of her house. She felt depressed when it rained and wished it would stop raining. The rains always brought back old memories. Memories, she would rather not think about. But, the rains continued in full fury and siddhi was transferred back into those times when she was just 18.

It all happened 10 years earlier when she was 18. siddhi was studying for her degree in Arts and she simply enjoyed going to college. Attending lectures, roaming around the college campus during free lectures and eating samosas coupled with hot masala tea was her regular routine. Her parents were both working and she was their only daughter. Life was easy for siddhi. She was doted upon by her parents and was loved by all her relatives.

Yet, siddhi felt something missing. She was not sure what was lacking, but a feeling of incompletion always surrounded her. She was not even sure what the feeling was or what she was seeking. It was only on that rainy day that she found out.

It was raining heavily and her class had a free hour. siddhi loved the rains unlike her friends who disliked the murky weather it brought about. siddhi and her friends rushed to the canteen for steaming hot cups of tea. They settled down at the corner seat in the canteen. As siddhi peeped outside the transparent glass windows, she saw an image. It was of a boy rushing towards the canteen. He didn't have an umbrella and was soaking wet.

She had never seen him before. She knew most of the students in her college and was sure he had taken admission recently. As he entered the canteen, siddhi's eyes followed him as he took a seat in the other end of the canteen. He looked a bit older than she had guessed. Maybe he was a final year student. There was something about this
boy that fascinated siddhi. She had many friends, but most of them were girls. Though she talked with most of the boys, she always kept a distance.

This was because she felt uncomfortable around boys. But this boy was different. He was totally drenched and yet he looked comfortable. siddhi felt like walking up to him and talking to him. This was quite unlike her nature and she reprimanded herself for thinking such thoughts.

The canteen was not crowded today. siddhi kept glancing across at that boy from above her tea cup. Her friends were discussing about the latest film released and did not notice her silence. The boy had also ordered for tea and was sipping it silently totally unaware of siddhi and her friends. The rains had subsided and the boy having finished the tea, walked out of the canteen. It was with great effort that siddhi held herself to her seat. She had felt like following the boy and finding out which class he was in. What had gotten into her?

Why was she behaving in this strange fashion? All these questions popped up in her mind. What kind of attraction was this?

The whole day at college passed in a trance for siddhi. She was hoping to see that boy again. One more lecture, and she could go out of the class and maybe, just by chance spot the boy somewhere in the campus. As the professor entered the class, the students stopped talking and became silent. siddhi glanced up from her books as she heard the professor's voice. She got the shock of her life to see that boy standing across the room, introducing himself as the substitute professor for Psychology. This boy was a professor! He looked so
young that she had assumed him to be a student. He had managed to dry his hair and clothes. He introduced himself as professor kunal. So that was his name! siddhi hardly heard what Prof.kunal spoke. As the lecture ended, siddhi found herself getting up and going across the classroom to speak to kunal.

As she stood in front of the professor, she suddenly felt shy and was dumbfounded..

kunal had seen siddhi staring at him in the canteen. He was impressed by her looks and was surprised to see her in his class. Now as she stood in front of him, not speaking a single word, he got a complete close up look of her. She was beautiful. As she looked up to meet his eyes, he felt an attraction that he had never felt before.

He longed to listen to her voice. That was when siddhi spoke. He hardly heard a word of what she said. She was equally attracted to him. Her eyes said it all. siddhi muttered a 'Thank you' and rushed out with her friends.

This rainy day she would never forget in her life. She was feeling complete and whole as a person. She felt like her body had turned light and she could fly, soar up in the sky and float across clouds. She had fallen in love. Maybe this was the feeling she had been seeking.

siddhi walked home with the hope of seeing kunal again tomorrow and hoping to speak much more than she had today. But fate had something else in mind. As she reached home, her father hugged her and started sobbing incessantly. It was with great difficulty that he was able to convey that her mother had met with an accident and was in the ICU at the hospital. There were very little chances of her survival. siddhi felt her knees weaken and she fainted. Her mother never recovered and expired two days later. It was the worst 48 hours of her life. Her father went about the final rites mechanically. He couldn't come to terms with his loss. He applied for a voluntary retirement and decided to go back to the village. He informed siddhi of his decision and asked her to complete her graduation via correspondence from the university. siddhi was unable to say a single word. She went along with her father's decision like a zombie.

The village was a beautiful and peaceful place. Her grandparents were very supportive and loving. Yet siddhi felt depressed. She felt like she had lost more than just her mother. She had lost kunal. The special feeling she had felt for him which had made her feel complete as a person was also lost. Would she ever see kunal again? She could not share with her father, what she had felt on that rainy day. So, slowly she came out of her stupor and completed graduation as per her father's wishes. Her father had started a small business in the
village and was quite successful in his venture. Her father then started looking for a good match for her marriage. siddhi was not interested in marrying and told her father that she would like to take up a job and make a place in this world for herself like her mother. Luckily, siddhi got a job in the city and she bade goodbye to her father and grandparents.

That was all ten years ago. Her father had constantly tried to get her married off but with no avail. She had made several excuses for not marrying and yesterday her father had given her an ultimatum.

As the downpour continued, thoughts of kunal troubled her. Image of a totally drenched kunal flashed in her mind. She closed her eyes tightly trying to remove the image from her mind and that was when she heard the door bell. Who could it be at this hour, with these heavy rains ringing her doorbell? She ignored the bell but it went on ringing persistently. Finally, she decided to check who it was. As she opened the door, she saw a drenched person standing in front of her. It was kunal. He looked much older but yet the same. He smiled at her and asked her to open the door completely, so that he could step inside.

With shivering hands, siddhi closed the door. They both stared at each other. kunal couldn't believe his eyes that it was siddhi standing in front of him. Surely she must be married by now. He spoke to her telling her that he had come to the nearby supermarket and the downpour had caught him by surprise. Finally seeing no signs of the rain stopping, he had decided to seek shelter in a nearby house. And that house had turned out to be hers. siddhi listened to kunal all the while wondering if he was married. She had waited for 10 years in the
hope of meeting him someday. And here he was standing in front of her. kunal had not married and had gone to the US after his brief stint at the college. He had returned recently and had landed the post of the principal in the same college. siddhi felt elated at the information and spoke of all that had happened in the last 10 years.

The attraction they had felt had been mutual and permanent. Neither of them could have imagined leading a life with another person. Both had remained single.

So, siddhi finally saw kunal after 10 years, totally drenched and soaking wet due to the rains. It was because of the rains that he had made a dash for her house and they had met. She no longer felt that the rains were depressing and went across the room to open the windows. She had found her love due to the rains and the sound
of the raindrops felt like heaven now. Her kunal had come back in her life and this time it was for ever'''..

almost all shows ve basketball game inspired frm movie,so tried on kunal & siddhi. hope u guyz like it 😊

"You're late, again" she said stretching the last word as he entered the basketball court with a smirk on his face. He walked with so much arrogance and so much pride that it made her madder. She hated waking up in the morning to play basketball with him, only to end up waiting an hour for him. It was now a routine for him, to make her wait. However she knew it was worth it and it was most definitely worth beating him in basketball.

"I woke up late" he answered simply as he walked over to the basketball rack picking a basketball up and bouncing it over to her. "You wake up late everyday kunal" she corrected him, giving him daggers as he walked up to her. "Or could it be Miss siddhi that you just wake up too early?" He chuckled a bit at his retort that seemed to shush her up but then he looked in her eyes just to see that fire building in them. "Yeah right, you come late. I know why you come late though" she started as she snatched the basketball away from him. "Yes siddhi why do I come late" he rolled his eyes and waited for her to continue, he obviously was amused. "You come late because you are afraid, afraid that you'll lose again" she poked him with her finger after each word. His face became sour and he let out another chuckle "kunal chopra is never scared of anyone or anything." This time it was her, who laughed. "Well then are you ready to get
kicked in basketball this morning again, or what?" "We will see." "I'm being nice kunal, I'll let you start first" she said handing him the basketball.

He started dribbling the ball away from her making sure to block her. He smiled as he noticed her struggling to get the ball away from him. He ran over to the net dribbling, as he got ready to shoot the ball into the net he noticed that the ball was gone. Standing on the other side of the court was siddhi with a smile on her face. He groaned as she ran to the basketball net and shot the ball in. He had to try harder or he'd lose again and he was tired of losing to her every day. He didn't even know why he played with her though, he always did lose but then again he always had so much fun whether he'd admit it or not. She resumed the game again; she had possession over the ball. She blocked him very well and yet again got another shot. The game went on forever the score 22-16 with siddhi leading. kunal had the ball this time and he started to dribble to the net, he tried his best with siddhi coming after him like a cougar. He readied his shot again but all he could throw into the net was air, she did it again. He groaned again, not being able to bear that she was going to win, yet again. He ran over to her just before she was going to shoot and pushed her down. He quickly grabbed the basketball and shot it into the net. She got up slowly from the cold ground and screamed. He turned around to face her to see that she was up in his face and pulling his beautiful hair. "Cheater!" "I am not a cheater" he tried to defend himself. He grabbed her hands away from his hair, but she just pulled harder. He gave up trying to stop her and joined in her game. He grabbed to pull her short cut hair but she kicked him in his shins and backed off.
"If you can't play don't cheat" she was frustrated with him and he heard that frustration in her voice.
"Don't call me a cheater" he said pointing his finger at her, she just ignored him. "You are a cheater, cheater, cheater!" "Then I'm going" he threatened as he walked toward the door. "I'm going too" she retorted walking to the opposite direction but before walking out, they both ran into the middle of the court and yelled in sync "shut up!"

"I don't get you siddhi, you and kunal are best friends but you fight like cats and dogs" a random girl said taking a seat by siddhi at the lunch table. "Yeah, enough of this fighting, go and say sorry to him" another random person said, this time a boy. "But you guys" she whined, she was not in the mood to talk to him. This happened quite a lot though, they fought almost every day and she always knew what happened in the end, they always apologized and remained good friends. It was a cycle that you couldn't stop sort of like the water cycle.
"But he is your best friend" the boy said. "Okay" she said giving up and giving in. She got up from her lunch table and looked towards the table where kunal sat, he was wearing his hideous white specs, that he thought made him look hot.

Meanwhile "Oh come on kunal, this isn't healthy. The two of you are always fighting."
kunal ignored the comment as he continued to eat his lunch, every now and then checking out a hot girl that walked passed his table. "Yeah, just say sorry to her" someone suggested, as he took a bite of his apple.
"No" he answered simply, "kunal chopra does not apologize."
Someone at his table laughed "yeah but you do apologize to siddhi." kunal crumpled up his napkin and throw it at the boy who said that. "But she is your best friend though" and that is when he gave up, he let out a heavy sigh. He got up and started walking her way.

The two of them approached each other as their small groups followed after them. siddhi walked up to him and smiled at him and he couldn't help but to smile back. "Friends?" she asked, "friends" he replied. He leaned in for a hug and she obliged glad to have a friend like him. She released and let her hands out in front of her so that they could do their little hand shake. She giggled as they did their handshake and hugged him again.

siddhi laughed remembering those memories. She and kunal had been friends since college and it was strange to see him all of a sudden grown up at her summer camp. They were separated for 11 years and 11 years is a long time. She had left college in the middle of the semester because of her mother and father. That wasn't the only reason, she fell in love with kunal, who fell in love with the new girl, simran. She couldn't manage being around him so
she agreed to her mother's offer of coming home. She had changed a lot in that time; she changed from being a tom boy into a woman. She no longer played basketball; instead she cooked and wore saris. kunal didn't change much though, he married simran like she had expected and had a kid, but what she didn't expect was that simran died.

He was lonely for who knows how long and didn't even have his best friend so support him. His son had come to her camp with his grandma only so that her kunal would follow and meet siddhi again, hoping that they would fall in love and get married. However at the time she was engaged to rohan, but then at the day of their wedding, they somehow ended up together. Everything just fell into place and her wish came true, the wish that she made years ago to be with kunal.
She looked at him sleep, with drool coming out of his mouth and his light snoring. She loved being with him and she loved being his wife. She knew that somehow they were meant to be together, and that god had given her a second chance for her first love and given kunal a second chance to fall in love again.

"I love you" she whispered as she moved some of his hair from his face.
