That was first step.

Today, he kept fast but has kept mum about it. Suman doesn't need to know. That's an improvement from otherwise tell-all Shiva.

He was in control, with minimal reactions to Dhara- Jaanu- Rishita chaos. That too was not like Shiva version 1-2-3.

This is the guy who used to put his 3 mothers over everything else. Not any more.

Even if not completely - he has started his journey to prioritize his wife. Has long way to go (and need full mercy of choubeys).

Raavi, as you mentioned, will not directly go into conflict with Suman. She rightfully has this fear block against kaaki & is perfectly valid. Raavi complies, and shows respect & love as suman is Shiva's mother- whom Raavi loves a lot.

This balance is tough for any woman. but haveto!

I can give my example. My FIL was as sharp tongued as Suman. MIL would just support him in everything. Have said many nasty things to me- humiliated me in front of everyone in family functions. My husband stood by me always, didn't get into verbal public confrontation but later has spoken for me. Even stopped talking to his parents for a few months. It did hurt him & I stepped up to reconcile. This give & take sometimes you do for your loved ones.

Does that mean, i forgave my inlaws then- no. infact i still havenot. My fil passed away few years back & my MIL is now in US stays with Sil. she has mellowed down a lot. definitely not nasty comments anymore. We are on casual good terms. ITV bonds us well.

She has realized out of staying with all three of her children - out of 2 bahus- this nonfavored one is the one who takes care.

Time changes things, and hope we will get a track where Suman realizes Raavi's value, her simple & loving need- to be loved. May be they can bring that up in this Dhara-Rishita tussle.

One request to Cv's for sure :keep Shiva's current progress going. This Shiva is much better than the previous 2 versions - 100%.

I can understand , been in similar situations and have seen loved ones too .. so I empathize with Raavi and want her to be happy .

One can only choose their partner , not his/ her parents and their attitudes and thought process towards us and life otherwise. It's a package deal which you can only make peace with at somepoint IF the guy or girl who is the partner is worth the hullabaloo and YOU want that person .

Shiva 3 was a toxic person , forget about being a partner . Raavi knew kid Shiva , Shiva 1 and 2 and her love towards him isn't necessarily based on what he is today .It's based on what they had shared all their life. She understands him , has this sense of comfort and safety with him like forever. She isn't basing her decision to be with him based on only the toxic version of him , she knows him otherwise too ..

About Shiva being guilty for version 3 , it's important how he lives his life forward more than begging Raavi for forgiveness once and doing just the same things all over again. Redemption is a continuous process . If he continues to live up to Raavi's expectations and keep her happy .. then I think it's okay . This phase is the growth phase for Shiva from what he was to being a good man worthy of himself and his wife.

We will see him grow from strength to strength ( like you said - if chaubeys are meherbaan on us )

About Raavi respecting suman and Shiva tagging raavi along for parikrama .

Shiva now sees her as part of his life and not some maami ki behen ki beti . They are now one unit for him and it's the only inference I want to draw from that scene.

Whether he is cognizant of the fact that his mother has been vile or not is something to debate upon . But irrespective of that , if he is able to stand up for Raavi when needed , when he is able to protect Raavi from his mother , it is fine . The examples you gave are so true .. it's just beginning ..we have to see how he manages going forward .

Whether he would do parikrama of maami .. let's not forget Mami is not just raavi's maasi . She was the reason for many many many losses that pandyas faced. They have a huge history of negativity . Prafulla is not just shiva's maasi-saas..

In an alternative world , this topic would be up for discussion and I agree probably Shiva wouldn't because of the typical Indian patriarchaial mentality .

I am not saying suman was less vile ..she was probably the worst person around Shiva 2 and 3 phases . She still is vile . Her caustic tongue can burn anyone. She doesn't deserve this respect from Raavi . Joining Shiva today , It's raavi who became the bigger person . If suman has any conscience , she should just shut up and not taunt raavi any more. Which again won't happen coz she is suman.

Raavi and suman can never be the Raavi beta - suman kaaki ( The one during jeera kaand and suman doing dhoom machale dhoom on wheel chair ) duo now . They have to learn to bear each other for the sake of Shiva .
