So, I suppose I'm on the fence about Shiva changing himself after sleeping on that thought. Last night, I was very much against the idea of Shiva changing anything about himself for a girl who would not return the same love for him. However, now that I think about it, Shiva "changing" himself is just him entering the next stage of his love.
I totally agree with you, Shiva's bindaas attitude and self-confidence were both traits that attracted me to him. He was the best written character as he was so multi-faceted. However, people change. We do stupid things for the people we love, and Shiva even "thinking" about changing himself only means he's fallen even deeper in love with her. Before, he spit out the methi paratha she made because it was "her" who made it (and he actually loves methi paratha). Now, he ate baingan curry without spitting out the food, without making any funny expressions, without criticizing her. He liked it and even likened her to be like Dhara, a person he deeply admires.
It's natural for people to change for their lovers. Yes, his fashion sense and style are his own, but if it means Raavi will see him differently... I think he's willing to make the change. Will he be happy? Probably not initially as he dresses in the new clothes, but after seeing Raavi's smile and interest, I think he would fall back into his happy space. This man is powered by other people's happiness, so even if we as an audience don't like that, it's a trait that we have to remember.
I think the road that needs to be taken here should not be Shiva focused... but instead it should be Raavi focused. Changing one's appearance for a lover is normal (I've seen girls start wearing makeup for men, dress in more pretty/fashionable clothes for their boyfriends, and I've seen guys change their fashion styles for girls as well). But what's most important here is what Raavi is going to do with that information... is she just going to accept his change (definitely not something I would like) or is she going to tell him that she's always preferred him to be himself. To be Shiva and no one else, because that's the man she married (which would make her Shiva's better half as she is slowly starting to understand him).
I hope this new track is Raavi focused instead of Shiva focused. Raavi needs character development and growth!
