Same sentiments, imagine being as captivating a presence as KD and yet the first thing you notice is his irritating hair. It's not fair to either the audience or the actor to jeopardize his look for the sake of "keeping in character". We all know this comic styling has nothing to do with staying true to Shiva's character, there are better ways to do it convincingly and portray him as a realistic rugged individual.
If your viewers are distracted by the appearance of the actor despite his top class performance and can't connect to the character because he is styled bizarrely, then it's no achievement per se.
