Part 2

Shiva dumped the cartons of cold-drinks on the counter as he breathed hard. What was happening to him? Why was he becoming so weak? Earlier lifting these simple cartons was very easy for him, but now, it felt like the simple tasks at the store were becoming difficult for him.

He cursed as his hand pained. He had sprained his hand very badly the other day. The reason being, he had slept on the wrong side of the cot. His body was still trying to adjust back to the roughness of the cot as he had started to enjoy sleeping on the soft cushiony mattress that was there in their room. But since Raavi had left the house, he had moved back to the cot as the empty room looked ready to swallow him. And also his body screamed for Raavi's body close to his, where he secretly enjoyed their innocent contacts, which happened accidentally, but he had always enjoyed them.

On the cot, it was just him and Krish, and Krish's infamous sleep-talking that disturbed his sleep.

His heart pained as Raavi's memories kept haunting him. He had underestimated his heart, for he thought once Raavi went away from him, slowly but eventually, he will learn to live again, just like before. He didn't know the fact that once you get accustomed to your partner, it's very hard to go back to your old days when you were alone yet happy.

Now it seemed that he is alone just like in the old days, but happiness didn't even enter his mind. For the past month, we felt like sh*t, his heart was bleeding and he was just trying to mend the crack on his heart, just so it stops bleeding and the pain will subside.

'Huh, easier said than done', He thought as he tried to mingle with some random talks with the customers, but it seemed as if they kept trying to piss him off, asking about Raavi every now and then. And he, like a fool, instead of glaring at them for asking about his wife, he always felt himself getting lost in his own train of thoughts.

"Shiva, mein 2 min aaya haan." Krish exclaimed as he walked out of the store, leaving him to handle the counter alone. Kaka had gone out for some work too.

But Shiva felt least concerned as he stared in the oblivion, hoping to catch a glimpse of his wife, well soon-to-be ex-wife. His heart pained at the mere thought of breaking their bond and her going away from him permanently, but however he felt like in this situation, the divorce was required to free her completely from him so that she can start afresh, without him bothering her.

Again, the thought was heartbreaking, but he knew he had to lick his own wounds. It was for their betterment. Instead of her compromising for him, it was better that he set her free.

As he picked up another carton, his eyes caught an angry Raavi marching towards the store. Her angry strides only told him one thing.

She was approaching him, Of course, to insult him yet again.

As Raavi stopped her angry strides in front of the young girls, they flinched at the sudden appearance besides them and jumped back a bit.

Raavi was angry, super duper angry as she saw 2 girls admiring Shiva as he stood rooted in his spot near the counter, oblivious to the oggling he was getting. She saw the youngsters giggling and blushing while pointing at Shiva and gossiping about something.

If they are youngsters, she would have let them pass for them just merely staring at Shiva. But the last line that one of the girls exclaimed had her burning in anger.

'Are tujhe pata hai na, yeh Shiva ne uski patni se saare rishte todd diye hain. Wow, matlab mere pass chance hai.'

How dare they think that way? Who were they to poke their nose in their marriage, secretly wishing that they walk separate ways so as they can benefit the situation?

"Humara rishta tute na tute, agar tum dono abhi yahan se dafa nahi hui na to dono ke daat zaroor todd dungi mein." She exclaimed once she saw that she had both of their attention.

"Aye, tum kaun hoti ho humein ye bolne wali? Humne sab suna tha uss din. Tumhare pati ne hi to kaha tha ki tum logon ka rishta khatam ho gaya hai. Jab tumne use thappad mara tha?", they tried to guilt-trip her, but she was not having it. She was not going to let others make decisions for them.

"Haan, aur tum logon ko isse koi matlab hona chahiye, Ye humare aapas ki baat hai. Aur tum logon ko sharam nahi aati? Kisi aur ke pati ko aise taadte hue? Niklo yahaan se isse pehle ki..."

"Hum kyun jaayein? Humari aankhein hain, hum kahin bhi dekhe. Tumhe isse kya?"

"Mujhe isse kya? Tum jise aise besharamon ki tarah taad rahi ho na, Pati hai woh mera. Aur agar agle 2 min mein yahaan se nahi nikli na to mere haath phir se khujla rahe hain. Kahun to firse repeat telecast dikhaun? Kaise thappad mara tha?"

The girls looked at each other as they stared at Raavi terrified, but nodded their head in negation.

"Phuto yaahan se, Besharam ladkiyan", Both the girls flinched yet again as Raavi took a warning step towards them, trying to intimidate them and raised her right hand too. And she succeeded as both the girls scurried away.

As she tried to control her anger, she turned to look at Shiva to talk to him. He looked at her with widened eyes, but averted his eyes, trying to indulge himself in his pending work, trying too hard to avoid her.

As she was about to move in to walk inside the store, loud screams of Rahul and Rohan stopped her.

She closed her eyes, trying to calm the storm in her, that Ritu had ignited.

Today, only God will save them from her wrath.

To say Shiva was surprised would be an understatement. The furiousness with which Raavi talked with the girls today was surprising. The murderous glint in her eyes, she had only talked in that way with him or with Dhara Bhabhi. Never had he seen her get so rude with anyone else and she always greeted people with her charming smile. There was only one time when she had been angry at some girls who had tried to oggle at Dev, but that was that. The intensity that she showed today was almost 10 times more than what she had showed at the time of Dev.

He felt his heart stop as he heard her claim him as her husband, but he tried to shrug the feeling off. She was just talking at the heat of the moment, and once they were divorced, she will not talk like that and get on with her happy life.

What he didn't know was, there were many shocks and surprises that were awaiting him that day...

Raavi turned to look at them, trying to avoid the temptation to gritt her teeth at the shameless people who she called them as her 'friends' and not snap at them.

"Are Raavi yaar, kahaan gayab hai tu? Pichle ek mahine se hum tujhe contact karne ki koshish kar rahe hain." Rohan exclaimed, trying to catch his breath.

"Haan Raavi. Kahaan hai tu? Na humare mesaages ke jawab de rahi hai, na hi call pick kar rahi hai. Sab theek to hai na? Tere aur tere husband ke beech ki ladai ke baare mein suna humne aur tabse chinta lagi thi teri ki tu kaise handle kar rahi hogi khudko." Rahul exclaimed as he looked worried.

"Mein apne ko bahut acche se sambhal sakti hun. Thank you tum logon ki concern ke liye", she snapped, trying hard to control her anger with clenched fists.

"Raavi, kuch baat hai to tu humein bata sakti hai. After all what are friends are for. Right?", Rahul tried to get her to talk to them.

But he had just let the damn of her anger break as she angrily turned towards him. "Haan, friends are just to be there for each other, Tum logon ki tarah nahi, jo mere husband ke baare mein sirf bakwas karna jaante ho. ", she glared at them hard and they took a step back, shocked by her words.

"Raavi, ye tu kya bol rahi hai? Hum to bass..." Rohan tried to explain but Raavi already had had enough.

"Tum to bass kya? Sirf apne opinions de rahe the? Maine pucha tha tumse tumhare opinions jo tum bina puche dene lag gaye the? Are tum log ko mein bahut hi akalmand aur samajhdar samjhti thi, par tum logon jitna bewakoof aur wahiyad insaan maine aaj tak nahi dekha. Jab hum mannat ke time pe chal rahe the to tum logon ko itni si bhi sense nahi thi ki main kahaan hun kiske saath hun aur tum log chalu ho gaye the mere husband ka mazaak udane mein? Mere sasural wale the mere saath, aur tum logon ne zara sa bhi nahi socha ki mere husband ki bizatti uske hi ghar walon ke saamne karoge to meri kya izzat reh jayegi? Tum log dost ho mere isilye chup rehne ki koshish kar rahi thi mein, Lekin nahi, tum logon ko kahaan sunna hai", her anger was increasing minute by minute.

"Raavi, tu yeh kya bakwass bole jaa rahi hai? Pagal ho gayi hai kya? Are hum to bass yun hi tere maze le rahe the..", this time it was Rahul who jumped in, slightly offended by her words.

"Use maze lena nahi kehte Rahul. Use insult karna kehte hain. Aur kyun? Jab tum log mere husband ke baare mein bakwass kar sakte ho to kya mein tum log ke baare mein bakwass nahi kar sakti? Are tum log jaante hi kya ho mere Shiva ke baare mein? Friend ho friend banke raho na, Tum logon ke maze lene ke chakkar mein humare beech mein kitni problems aa gayi hain iska tumhe kya pata? Tum to bass maze lene ke bahane mauke ka fayda uthana chahte the. Yeh mat samajhna ki mein masoom hun to mujhe tumhari harkaton ke baare mein yaa phir tumhari neeyat ke baare mein kuch nahi pata. Ignore karti hun to tum log aisa fayda uthaoge?"

"Dekh Raavi, hum to tujhe ye batana chahte the ki tune uss aadmi se shaadi karke kitni badi galti ki hai. Woh ladka tere layaak bilkul bhi nahi. Kahaan tu itni stylish, aur kahaan woh gawaar. Hum to tere bhale ke liye hi tujhe bol rahe the taaki tu thoda soche aur fir uske accordingly hi decision le."

"Tum log kaun hote ho mere aur mere husband ke beech mein bolnewale? Aur mujhe samjhake kya saabit karna chahte ho? Ki mein Shiva ko chod ke tum jaise kisi ladke ka haath tham lun?"

"Mere jaisa ladka matlab? Kehna kya chahti hai tu?", now Rahul was angry, but he didn't knew how mad angry Raavi was.

"Oh please Rahul, ye mat samjhio ki mujhe kuch nahi pata. Humare friend circle ke bahaar tujhe koi ladki bhaav nahi deti, sab pata hai mujhe. Shakal acchi hai to kya hua, nazar to kharab hai. Jab tu ladkiyon ko itni gandi nazron se dekhta hai to kaise koi tujhse baat karna chahegi? Tujhe ladkiyon ki izzat karna aata hai nahi, sirf dikhawa karna aata hai. Aur tum log mujhe decision lene mein help karoge? Meri shaadi, meri personal life yeh sab ke baare mein fikr karna sirf meri responsibility hai, naaki tum logon ki. Agar mein kahun ki tu kisi bhi ladki se shaadi kar le bina use jaane ya samjhe to tu kar lega? Just because teri bahut acchi dost ne bola hai? Nahi na? Personal life humesha 'Personal' hi hona chahiye. Dost banke rehna chahta hai na to jyaada apni taang adane ki zaroorat nahi hai. Mein kya choti bacchi hun jo mujhe tum logon ki zaroorat pade mere life ke decisions lene ke liye? Itne bure din nahi aaye mere. Aur itni bhi buddhu nahi hun ki mere zindagi mein Shiva rahega ki nahi yeh baat mein tum logon se puchun. Aur agar tujhe itna hi haq jatana hai na meri life ke decisions to mein tujhe ek mauka deti hun."

Raavi walked to a nearby Rakhi stall and brought a few them, with someone paying for them. Rishita winked at her as she paid for the raakhis and turned to witness the remaining drama, silently encouraging her to continue what she was about to do.

Raavi felt good that someone from the Pandya family was there to support her. She walked back to where Rahul and Rohan stood and grabbed Rahul's hand. "Mera koi bhai nahi hai. Mera bhai ban jaa aur fir mein tujhse advice lene zaroor aaungi, kyunki tu mera bhai ban jayega to teri behen ki madad to zaroor karega na?"

She was about to tie the raakhi on his wrist but Rahul just jerked his hand away. "Raavi, ye kya kar rahi hai. Lagta hai pagalon ki family mein rehte rehte tu bhi pagal ho gayi hai."

Raavi smiled at this, not at all offended at the insult. "Agar woh log rishton ko importance dena jaante hain na to aise pagalon ke saath rehne mein mujhe koi problem nahi hai. Ulta yeh mere liye garv ki baat hogi. Teri tarah nahi jo dusron ki khushiyon ke baare mein puchne ki bajaye bas kisike bigadte rishte ko dekh ke mauke ka fayda uthana jaante hain. Itna chaunk mat, kya laga tujhe, ki tujhe mujhpe crush hai yeh baat mujhe pata nahi chalegi. Ainda mere aas paas bhi dikh gaya na to teri khair nahi. Mera pati bahut garam dimag ka hai, kuch bhi bakwas ki na mere baare mein to phir tum log apna apna dekh lena. Meri zimmedari nahi hogi. Yaad rakhio."

"Tu bahut jyaada bol rahi hai Raavi, woh bhi uss gawar ke liye jiska humare saath koi comparison bhi nahi hai. Chalti firti Kirane ki dukaan hai woh." Rohan tried to insult Shiva, but Raavi was not having any of it.

"At least kuch kaam to karta hai. Teri tarah padha likha berozgaar to nahi hai."

"RAAVI..!!" Rahul shouted at the insult as he moved forward to hit her for talking nonsense about them, but his hand was grabbed in a vicious hold.

Raavi smiled triumpantly as she saw Shiva stand in front of her like a barrier clutching Rahul's hand in his steel like hold. As Rahul struggled to release his hand from Shiva's hold, instead Shiva twisted his hand behind his back. "Aye gadhede, teri himmat kaise hui apni dost pe haath uthane ki? Waise to uss din bada hass khel raha tha iske saath, ab kya hua? Teri dost ne do sacchi batein bol di aur tu aag babula ho gaya?", he twisted his arm some more and Rahul yelped in pain.

"Raavi ne theek hi kaha, ainda agar iske aas pass 500 meter ki duri pe bhi tu dikha na tu ye haath to abhi chod raha hun, lekin agli baar mein gurantee nahi le sakta. Aur phir bhi tu nahi maana na to jo dhulayi teri uss din ki thi, uska repeat telecast dikhane mein mujhe time nahi lagega. Agar apni haddiyan salamat rakhna chahta hai na to phut yahaan se. Chal nikal", he roughly pushed him away such as he went crashing on the ground.

He had expected them to put a fight. But the next minute they were seen running away, terrified by the angry young man. Shiva glanced at their retreating backs with gritting teeth and turned to look at Raavi who was smiling proudly at him. He narrowed his eyes, too shocked to say anything.

By the time the drama ended, there were people who had gathered to witness it, and Shiva knew better than to not repeat his mistakes. "Aur tu", he lightly grabbed her forearm and dragged her inside the store.

Rishita, who was proud of both Shiva and Raavi stood outside the stoor with a big smile on her face. A naughty glint appeared in her eyes as she saw Shiva drag Raavi to the storeroom, probably to have a 'talk'.

But she knew, there was a probability that things will get sorted between them.

Krish, who had been away because of his friends had also witnessed Shiva dragging Raavi, and was about to stop them, probably thinking that they were going to fight yet again.

But Rishita stopped him."Nahi Krish, jaane de unko. Tu beech mein mat padd."

Krish looked bothered as he glanced at Rishita with unsure eyes. "Bhabhi aap mujhe rok kyun rahe ho? Aapne dekha nahi, Shiva phirse Raavi Bhabhi ke saath jhadga karne wala hai, Humein unhe rokna hoga."

"Nahi Krish, aaj nahi, aaj unke beech kisiko nahi aana chahiye. Mujhe Raavi pe pura bharosa hai. Woh sab kuch theek kar degi. Aur shayad ghar bhi wapas aa jayegi."

'If only, Shiva uski baat sun le, acche se', she added in her mind, scared yet excited for the outcome of their 'talk'.
