That is the whole point of their characters I feel. Daddy Cool is the alpha dawg, the domineering and powerful father whose son is under his thumb. Although Zaid chafes under his father's control, we are shown that he has difficulty standing up to his father. His father is always cutting him down to size whenever he disagrees. It's the dad's way or the highway, and Zaid always capitulates. The father also knows how to push Zaid's button and manipulate him if he sees Zaid resist.

Zaid is a ping pong ball between 3 alpha personalities who are fighting over who controls him. If Zaid was also alpha like Daddy Cool (or Murtasim), no one would even dare think they can control him. Next to his dad, Zaid is an introverted little boy with daddy issues. So Daddy Cool overpowering Zaid is what we should expect of these cktrs.

We should judge characters based on the story being presented. Woh tashan wala Zaid would have made zero sense in Mein. Someone alpha and confident wouldn't be doing these things or be stuck in these situations.
