Assalam-o-alikum,

Relationships between India & Pakistan and our Private Media

After October 8th Earthquake, there have been many changes in policies of both India and Pakistan. Borders are opened for the Kashmires on both side of LOC, so they can meat their loved ones.

However, there are many other changes which were seen on Media Level, that too one sided. Many private channels in Pakistan are showing OLD Indian soaps and other shows. According to them, "they are making a path to better communication between the two countries"

  • Do you think it is a "Good" way to open paths of good communication? When these changes are one sided.
  • By showing Indian Soaps, are they discouraging the talent of their country?
  • Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way.

Over to you …………………but before that. I would Like to tell, that this discussion has nothing against Indian Soaps, or India. My request to all is to take the discussion to heart. And if you want to add more points, please feel free. We love to hear from you guys. 😊

  • Do you think it is a "Good" way to open paths of good communication? When these changes are one sided. I don't think communication has anything to do with Media showing other shows. Even Indian Media is not showing any Pak show but still Pak and Ind can communicate positively, I don't see any Good way to open paths of communication
  • By showing Indian Soaps, are they discouraging the talent of their country? Not discouraging but demoralizing Pak Serials/ Series. I think even the audience don't want to watch soaps (and I Mean Soaps) because its not something we as an audience has wanted to watch or will want to watch (I don't)
  • Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way. I think that few serials with Indian artists is good, okay I won't mind watching them but I will mind if they start taking Indian artists in every single show. I mean I would like to watch more of Pak artists like Sadia Imam, Sania Saeed, Mahnoor, (I don't like new artists they are not good actors at all) in Pak shows. We can watch Indian soaps by switching to any channel like Star Plus, Zee TV etc

Over to you …………………but before that. I would Like to tell, that this discussion has nothing against Indian Soaps, or India. My request to all is

Kewl topic saba appi 👏
stickies ka bhir main maine issaye kabhi notice hi nahi kiya tha 😕

Do you think it is a "Good" way to open paths of good communication? When these changes are one sided. Well if it is one sided then it is defeating the purpose so theres no point in doing tht. watchink indian sopas and fils in pak and pak serials and films in india shudnt b banned but it shudnt b done jus 4 the sake of ending gaps

By showing Indian Soaps, are they discouraging the talent of their country? YES..Indian soaps r garbage wen compared 2 pak shows (well not really recent 1z 🤢 but thts a whole other discussion)pak shows r realisitc and deal with stuff we all can relate 2 in 1 way or another and they end quickly and stick 2 the point and have gr8 storylines (a gazillion tymez better thn balaji 😉 however, they r full of glamor and thts wat attracts pplz..i dunno y but women sittin @ home but lukin like they jus came baq frm a wedding (wel actually sumtymes they r even more dressed up than tht) and ppl living in HUGE mansions (if itz a balaji show the same mansios r repeated frm show 2 show ive noticed tht in a bunch of ekta serials 😆 ) crazy storylines and no logic seem 2 b wat pplz loke...dun ask me y but yea thts wat they want 🤢

Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way.
working with indian artists is a better way...serials with a mix of really gud indian and pak. artists is the best approach..we need more serials like ana and SLN bcuz it is bridging the gap with out having the pak celebs loose their identity or have their talent go by unrecognized bcuz of indias overly glamorfull and illogical soaps

I completely disagree there are many other ways that can b a much better way for good communication....we all know now every home in pakistan has dish n cable so ppl r watching indian soaps anyways y showing them on a pakistani channels too..by doing this they r not doing any good for pakistani media..they should rather concentrate on making good serials not soaps or they should show old pakistani dramaz so that new artist can learn some good acting..
  • By showing Indian Soaps, are they discouraging the talent of their country? Well i agree with Aji here they not discouraging pakistani talent but demoralizing it....even indian artistes agree that the level of pakistani dramaz r way higher than indians
  • Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way. i think that working with indian artiste is a better way than showing indian soap operas

Do you think it is a "Good" way to open paths of good communication? When these changes are one sided.

---> If that is the reason, I think its a good idea. Some Urdu serials air on Sony and Zee as well (most in the afternoon slots I believe) Some have been very popular- Henna on Sony for one. But then again, this soap featured mostly Indian TV actors- Simone Singh, Rakhee Tandon- so its unfair to say the change is not one-sided. So yes the change is primarily one-sided.

Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way.

---> Well, it depends. In Sun Ley Na, you have the two most popular television actors (and jodi) acting in a soap together. So in some ways, the other actors may not get the attention/critical acclaim they deserve (despite being wonderful actors). Like Imran Abbas is a good actor and really handsome too. But I think Rajeev's immense popularity overshadows him. So, in some ways it is good and some ways, its bad.

This is sort of unrelated to TV:

Many recent Bollywood films have used music by popular Pakistani bands such as Jal. The songs- Woh Lahmey, Aashiq Banaye Aapne, Aadat- have gone on to become HUGE hits, helping the producers of these films finanically.

Do you think this is also a way to improve relations and communcation between the two countries? Is it fair though to copy someone else's music though and pass if off as your own? Are the original composers and singers being overshadowed, both talent and money wise? Or is Indian music talent being overshadowed?

Oh sorry, I wasn't sure if Henna was a Pakistani serial. I'm only familiar with a few serials, like Mehendi, Ana, and Ansoo.

I don't visit this section often but i read those wonderful eid stories and voted. sometimes i visit just to read something urdu. because i love urdu zabaan. i am not sure if this discussion is only open to pakistanis if so please delete this post.

Now I have a totally different perspective about this issue.

* Do you think it is a "Good" way to open paths of good communication? When these changes are one sided.

first of all i think that this change was not to bridge any gap between countries but to capitalize on indian stars popularity among pakistanis. do you guys seriously think that these private channels are trying to bridge gap and not make profit?

* By showing Indian Soaps, are they discouraging the talent of their country?

true talent would never go unnoticed. if pakistani dramas and actors are really good then i don't think these few indian shows or actors can outshine pakistani dramas/artists.

* Is showing Indian Soaps and other chat shows, is a better way. Or working with Indian Artists in a serial is a better way.

i think indian artists should be encouraged to work in pakistani shows and vice versa. india has always encouraged pakistani artists like ghulam ali, nusrat fateh ali khan, ali haider, somy ali, mehdi hasan, abida parveen and many more and given lots of appreciation to them but at the same time india's nightingale lata mangeshkar was not granted a visa by pakistan then and famous music composers laxmikant-pyarelal were asked to return from immigration itself and many other such incidents. now i am happy that both countries are welcoming artists with open arms.

let our friendship strengthen and hatred weaken.
