Can any religion suggest self death or sucide esp, whose main motto is "ahinsha"?

Can Santhara be meant to cure uncurable and difficult conditions by fastings, aversions, resting, avoiding lighted places, meditations etc.as last resort?

Other species commonly practice fastings, resting, aversions, avoiding lighted places etc. for getting cure. It may also be possible that we naturally get such initiations on any difficult disorder..aversions, depressions, suicidal tendancies, resting, avoiding lighted places etc.
