Right man in the right place is the cardinal element to success.., but here in Nach Baliye 5, do we have a right man in the right place ? May be NOT.
When any reality show is airing it's initial round of promotions, two aspects make the headlines, first being the contestants (only if it is a celebrity based reality show ) and the other being judges (for any given reality show).. . keeping the contestants aside, if we excavate the other aspect, THE JUDGES.. they form the most imperative aspect of a reality show .. or in other words they are the FACE of any reality show.. they can be the person who can make a show hit or flop.
For instance, Indian Idol with or without Anu Malik makes a big difference and if big names like Asha Bhosle ji is associated with a musical show like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa..., the expectation and the amount of seriousness, associated with the show would be different.. So, for any reality show, the judges are like the lead characters.. and we cannot have a comedy actor in a serious fiction or a serious actor in a sitcom.. so for that having the right person in the right place is momentous..
What was the channel thinking when they roped in Sajid Khan as a judge,, When I read Sajid Khan's name as the judge . the instant scenes which popped in my head were the spells of rib tickling laughter and his dramatic face off with a director in an award show.. he has two shades.. he is good at comedy and he creates lot of drama..
and In my head, the thoughts were flickering as WHY HIM as a judge?
What was the channel thinking .. i guess they were thinking from the aspect of TRPs and drama and Entertainment.. Sajid Khan, no doubt, he does offer lot of entertainment either through rib tickling comedy or through top end drama which will be blown out of proportion.. he is a right man roped in to combat the ratings with the entertainment factor,, but he is definitely NOT the right person to judge the show like Nach Baliye which is purely a dance based show and not an Entertainment show..
We open the websites to see what did Sajid Khan say.. how did he react .. but we fail to see how the contestants fared during the act..Don't we see that entertainment and drama is eclipsing the actual dance performances of the contestants..?
Are tears not overdone in fiction on TV, I concur, drama holds the audience and dramatics sells, but does a reality show essentially have to take the route of cliched fiction, can a reality show ever be sans tears... In every other reality show, there will be one judge, merely for this purpose of hurting the contestants in the name of criticism where the fine line is crossed which leads to humiliating the contestant...
and seriously, do we really need dramatization and scripts in reality show?? where is the REALITY in a reality show when they are intentionally dramatizing or fictionalizing it to combat the numbers and ratings.. ??
Regards,
