Real life couples Manav-Shweta, Hiten-Gauri and Rajesh-Madhvi feel left out over not being recruited for the Star One couple-special Nach Baliye | ||

Why are some of the most famous married names in television missing from the list of Star One's new reality show Nach Baliye? The show is supposed to feature ten 'married-in-real-life' television couples who will dance to Bollywood numbers and compete against each other. However, the list put out by the channel includes one unmarried couple (Amit Sadh and Neeru Bajwa), and another relatively 'senior' one (Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar who may have a difficult time competing against energetic youngsters). And missing from the list altogether are some famous names - Manav Gohil and Shweta Kawatra, Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan, and Rajesh Kumar and Madhvi Chopra. Were they not invited on the show at all? Says Manav Gohil, €œWe had date problems. I have committed my dates to Fame Gurukul. My schedule is packed till the middle of October, especially Thursdays. I just can't touch the Thursday schedule.€ Manav is also doing CID on Sony. Did his contract with Sony bar him from doing the show on Star One? Manav says, €œThere is no such contract. Fame Gurukul is also a reality show. And I can't ignore it. Had it been any other show, then I could have tried making it for Nach Baliye. We (he and wife Shweta Kawatra) met the channel and tried to adjust. But it didn't happen. We would have loved to be a part of the show€maybe we will do the second season.€ Shweta Kawatra is currently doing Crime and Punishment for Sahara Samay, Current Bollywood on Set Max and Good Morning Bollywood on Sahara One. Hiten Tejwani shares the same woes. According to him, €œThey (Star One) had called us. But we (he and wife Gauri Pradhan) were not free. They just asked us once - they didn't push us much. Anyway I am tied up. I don't even have the time to rehearse. That's the reason I don't perform for awards ceremony. The last time I performed, it was not live but pre-shot.€ Hiten is currently doing three Balaji shows: Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kkavynajali and Kesar. In fact he is so over-burdened, he says, that he requested the producer of Kesar to kill his character in the show. Wife Gauri Pradhan is equally pressed for time as she is doing Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Special Squad and Daagh.But now, adds Hiten ruefully, €œI am getting calls from my fans asking why I am not doing Nach Baliye.€ Another hot couple that will not be grooving on Nach Baliye is Rajesh Kumar aka Rosesh Sarabhai (of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai) and wife Madhvi Chopra. Sources say they were not approached by the channel because Madhvi is not very famous. Rajesh also appears in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. Madhvi appears in Kaanch on DD and in Bechara Big B on Zee Smile.
