Sms-to-win scam

I voted for myself, too!

Manish Goel, finalist on Nach Baliye 1, admits to doing something similar to what Manav Gohil and Shweta Kwatra are being accused of this year

Mumbai Mirror Bureau

Nach Baliye 2 contestants Manav Gohil and wife Shweta Kwatra may be in the dock for rigging votes in their favour by buying and handing out 200 SIM cards to friends and acquaintances, but Manish Goel, a finalist on last year's Nach Baliye 1, is wondering what the fuss is all about. He says he too had repeatedly voted for wife Poonam and himself to increase his vote score on the show last year.

"People are making a mountain out of a molehill. If a politician can vote for himself, why can't a contestant do the same? I was a part of Nach Baliye last year and I've experienced the intense pressure of the contest. Yes, I repeatedly voted for myself and Poonam. What's wrong with that? If you know that you're good and that you deserve to win, why not make that extra effort?" said Manish.

He added that others too have done the same thing but won't admit to it. "Who decides what's right and wrong? I'm not against self campaigning. The contestants request the audience to vote for them on camera. "So, if Manav and Shweta have bought 200 SIM cards to vote for them why point fingers?

"I think we've all done that at some point. And self voting can't make you win. You have to have the attributes to win. Being popular with the audience can get you innumerable votes but that alone can't make you the winner. Is there anyone who hasn't resorted to self promotion?" said Manish.

I love him for saying this👏👏 I bet all the couples do the same thing but they won't admit it. People need to forget about these little things and look at the bigger picture. Poor Manav-Shweta are being dragged into this stupid controversy despite the fact that they are such good performers!

Yeps! well said!! :D:D

but i dun think that if every1 does it, then thats an excuse

BUT

i do agree that the whole double standards that exist...like politicians can vote for themselves...previous NB couples voted...current NB couples are...then why just single out MS?!!?

There is no disgrace to them. I dotn agree on that. They still are respected and shall stay that way, infact I would like to repeat somehting which I wrote in another thread.

Well I think they are draggend in to it by sheer bad luck and my views about it are;
Now here is the controversy which has been pushed big time by Mumbai Mirror. Is it cause this tabloid really thinks this act of Manav Shweta is wrong or is it that Star on large level is giving information to Mid-Day and Mid-Day is the first newspaper and their direct competitor to have all info about NB2 and that is hurting them? And thus they are trying to malign NB2 or some contestants? This is the same newspaper which is distributed free with the best selling Times of India and claims we are number 2 in Mumbai? What about their tactics of claim to fame, same, free distribution.

This is no issue for me. This simple media war and in any case Indian Media now is losing its credibility as they have 24 hours channels and nothing show to so, they create issues out of all and blow it out of proportion. Scams, non issues rule the media and its high time they show some maturity. Infact I am happy the members here are showing really good maturity regarding this issue and not sensationalising it.

by disgrace i am referring to ONLY their "Nach Baliye" presence, and to me, they will be regretting their action... i dont think they will feel comfortable anymore being there knowing that everyone is talking about their self lobbying... i dont think anyone is blowing it out of proportion - it is a news and it is WORTH a mention... i dont see justification for this action...

Well I appreciate your views; but dont see them regretting their action, as they too know how and why othercontestants vote for themselves, they are one of the unfortunate ones to be found out abt by the media. Regarding the news, I dotn deny that it shouln't be mentioned, but the way Mumbai Mirror is using it, one tends to doubt their action. The same should have been a news and not a scoop I feel.

In a population of above a billion people, how much do a few hundered votes matter anyhow?

If it gives them satisfaction in doing so--so be it 😊
