Parmeet Sethi: Main hoon Don
By: Sandipan Dalal
October 25, 2005

Parmeet Sethi has landed himself a new thriller show. The actor will play the lead in Don, a bi-weekly thriller series to air on Star Plus this December. The channel is playing the hush-hush game about this new project; the cast has been instructed not to speak about it.

Explains an insider, "Channel authorities fear that the rampant competition may see other entertainment channels copying the format of the show."

But those in the know tell us that three episodes have already been shot and canned under the watchful eye of Sunjoy Wadhwa, of Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand fame.

Suave detective

Parmeet Sethi is playing the lead on the show. While Sethi admits he has been shooting for the show, he refuses to talk about it unless the channel gives him the green signal.

Says a source, "Parmeet's playing a suave detective who's tough with criminals." Adds Sethi, "I'm playing a vital character in this new show, a welcome break from saas-bahu dramas. I'm trying to respect the clause in my contract that curbs me from talking about it.

Also, it's too early to give out anything, as the channel is yet to decide whether it's a daily or a weekly. But I'm quite happy and satisfied with the role. Finally, I've got something that suits my taste."

Out of the box

Incidentally, the channel had been planning a thriller show for a few months before Don happened. Says producer Sunjoy Wadhwa, "It's definitely a suspense thriller series that will keep viewers hooked.

And as a strategy the channel is planning to make it a bi-weekly to keep the spirits of the viewers high, along with the show. This show will cater to all audiences, including the game show and family drama segment. Our expectations are quite high."

However, when enquired about the show, the channel dismissed it, saying that plans are still in the initial stage and it might hit the floors only in January.
