Naamkaran. Much focus is on the sizzling chemistry of the leads Zain Imam & Aditi Rathore but this show is much more to many people. It is a show that highlights the hypocrisy of society and the abuse that is heaped on innocent children by so called "religious and good people!" Sounds familiar? Just look at the recent headlines in India. But rest assured, this is not an Indian problem it is a worldwide problem!
This show is about a young girl child born out of wedlock, not because her parents did not love each other, not because they were not in fact married in the eyes of God, but because society and the paternal grandmother would not accept a Muslim girl for her Hindu son!
This show is about non acceptance of an illegitimate girl child but at the same time acceptance of the illegitimate boy child! Hmm religion and gender bias! Hot topics in india? Topics that need to be discussed? International topics?
This show is about a single woman adopting an illegitimate girl child and bringing her up to be a strong independent young lady.
This show is about a husband and his family that defines the norm and accepts this illegitimate woman as his wife and gradually she is seen as a beloved wife and daughter in law.
This show is about the beautiful and captivating character, Avni, and her adopted mom, Neela Ma, and how they overcome life's challenges and social norms.
The writers in the show keeps changing plots and some very poor creative decisions were/are being made due to pressure from the Channel who does not have the guts to stick with a show and continuously plays the ratings game.
This show has a solid foundation in term of content. Stop the madness and have the courage to develop it to its fullest potential. What is it that so many can see both locally and internationally yet Star Plus cannot see?
Want more reasons? Look at the news and see the many crimes being committed against woman and children does this show not resonate of the same! Can you not use this show's foundation to further address these issues?
Do you have that foresight & courage Star Plus to understand that you have an opportunity to make a difference by promoting the development of this show rather than axing it?
... The above reflects my final thoughts and my appeal to Star Plus. The show always had potential. Granted there has been some serious flaws with the storyline but nothing that cannot be turned around.
I promised myself that after IPKKND that I would not get so vested in a show on ITV but I did and whist I will hold Naamkaran dear to me I really must stop supporting these channels that continue to show regressive content.
God bless each one of you and I wish you nothing but the best!
