Wonderful questions raised TM. I would be happy to answer those.
Hinduism works on the principle of Trinity.
The word GOD itself is a short-form for
Generator (Brahma who created the universe) and his wife Saraswati (the goddess of Knowledge)
Organizer (Vishnu who looks after the creations) and his consort Lakshmi (goddess of Wealth)
Destroyer (Shiva who destroys the bad elements) and his consort Shakti/Kali/Durga (all are same) - She's the goddess of strength.
Knowledge, Wealth and Power(food, energy etc.) are the basic necessities of life.
Every god and his wife complete each other. (like Shiva and Kali are inseparable from each other)
The remaining gods are either
1. different forms of the above 3 gods (ex: Kali, Durga, Parvati are all the same)
2. Children/descendants of above gods (ex: Ganesh is the son of Shiva)
3. Creations of above gods (ex: god of fire--> agni)
4. Incarnations of above gods (ex: Krishna is an incarnation of Vishnu. So Krishna and Vishnu are one and the same)
In this show,
Guruji worships Shiva (who has many other names like Bholenath, Mahadev, Shambhu, Shankar etc.)
Guruma worships Kali (who is Shiva's wife.)
In reality, Shiva and Kali are one and the same (since hubby-wife are to be considered an inseparable couple)
The hindu religion gives us the freedom to worship any god in whichever form u like. But ultimately it's one of the three gods (or their wives) mentioned above.
