Among all the major GEC (General Entertainment Channel) executives the most friendly and free to talk honcho has to be Colors CEO Raj Nayak. We met up with him at event and had a quick chat on various Colors shows. He was very happy with numbers of Naagin. "We were always gung-ho about the concept for snake woman films have always worked. India does not have something like Vampire's Dairy right, Naagin falls in the same fantasy genre. Infact we had had been pushing Ekta Kapor to make the show since a year. While we are happy with its current high numbers (5.8,), we believe it has the potential to touch 7 or even 8 TVR."
Here he praises Ekta for her efforts, "we all know she can create magic. The production values are very high. The story is tight and last but not the least casting (Adaa Khan, Mouni Roy and Arjun Bijlani) is spot on."
Since Naagin started as limited series show, will you plan to extend it now given it's great run? "No we will take a break and return with season 2."
Turning his attention to Swaragini which is again doing good on the rating's front. Raj admits, "at first internally there was an debate among the programming team which suggested not doing another sister based show since we already had done Uttaran in our kitty. But we decided to carry on as we had a good story to tell. Why let somebody else take the advantage. "Here he refused to comment on negative lead quitting Tejaswi Prakash the show due to creative differences, "for my information says something else. "
