Honestly speaking, it's better to read Indian supernatural books rather than watching Indian supernatural shows. I'm saying this because I can imagine amazing VFX at the time of reading books. I'm giving you an example. I wanted to read a supernatural novel named The Bagheera Chronicles:The Tiger King for many days. It's written by an Indian author named Rahul Balaji. I couldn't buy its hard copy, so, I finally bought its e-book version on Kindle. It's a love story of a weretiger, Vanraj Sisodia (Rajput prince) and a witch, Lasya. He was cursed by a witch 300 years ago because he killed her son. Then he got reincarnated quite a few times with the curse. He is an emotionally wounded person because he considers himself to be a monster. His emotions are conveyed to the readers through his diary entries. He prefers to isolate himself from others. On the contrary, the teenage witch, Lasya is vivacious. When he met Lasya in college he felt an instant attraction. Whenever Vanraj transforms into a Bagheera in the book I imagine a majestic Royal Bengal tiger in my head. That kind of tiger (VFX) is not shown in Indian tv shows. I'm telling you, Sukhada! An interesting and dramatic show can be made on this book. Even though it's inspired from The Beauty and The Beast the author incorporated new ideas in his book. However, the producer and the director need to follow Rahul Balaji's vision in order to do that. Then the weretiger show will be as good as some American supernatural shows.
This sounds so interesting Shirsha! Am an ardent fan of Supernatural Fiction stories. Though, I don't subscribe to much of Indian authors, this sounds so interesting! True! Reading a story and watching the same story can never have the same impact! I usually refrain from it. I remember reading, 'The da vinci code' by dan brown and then watching the movie of the same name starring tom hanks! It was an incredible movie no doubt, but what that book made me imagine and feel and think, I cannot describe it! It also had a few supernatural elements and it was worth reading!
Well, on ITV, I do feel the audience is also at fault, not just the makers. There are just few people like us who are really bothered to observe such minute details like VFX, Costumes, makeup. Majority audience really doesn't care. Makers cater to urban as well as rural audience, you see! Am not on twitter thankfully,😆 but as much as I have read comments and reviews on youtube and instagram, large section of people are only and only concerned about their favorite actor and remaining, about the story and the characters! So, VFX really becomes secondary for them! Maybe, due to less demand they wouldn't be spending too much on it, as VFX really really takes days and days of hardwork! Frankly, VFX is the most difficult to create! I know a little bit about it! Example to create the illusion of bani turning into a snake, it would be taking a frame by frame work. Just One second is of some 30-45 frames! Imagine working on a 45-50 minute episode!😆 I had done a 5 minute short video not even this detailed, and it took some 2-3 days for me! Am new at it but still! Lighting and colour matching is different ball game altogether! As a layman we don't understand that much but its a lot of detailed work!
So, if people are not much noticing it, or aren't bothered much why would they take it into consideration so much hard work and money! In the west, firstly they have money ofc, so their basic VFX is our high level one!😆 But their the audience is really insightful towards the smallest of details! There are official channels who reviews and breaks down every episode of a show! Their bloopers and mistakes are critiqued immensely by the audience and media! So, you see its a necesscity for them to deliver high quality visual effects! Just like here, in our bollywood movies! VFX cannot be this sloppy as they are on TV right!😆 People will throw stone on the theatre screens!😆
Still, you know, I find naagin VFX wayyy better than another show I was watching recently! I won't name it here, as its a very famous show, maybe some fan would get offended!😆
But, I stopped watching primarily because of its storyline, but also because I couldn't take the horrible VFX!😆
PS: I'll surely give the book a read Shirsha! Thankful for this insightful info!🤗
