I understand you expected a slow burn for behir, the jump to physical comfort and open vulnerability is what bothering you.
I'm absolutely not defending them, I know where exactly the loopholes were, but just here me out.

Mahirji:
He has put all his cards on the deck a very long time back, he has confessed his feelings and expectations long time ago, by now we know where he stands in this relationship. He is very ahead of bela in this marriage. He has been unsure about her reciprocation. He has already lost her in many incidents, like Shaan track and bela confession track. Lately he has been desperate for some assurance.

Bela:
She took her time, admitted she is in love with a man who she accused of murder, of none other than an ex, without proof! She went to a point of confession, she may have wrongly done it but she was ready to confess. After vikrants arrival also she chose Mahirji. She made it clear she will not survive if something went wrong with Mahirji. On double occasions after a physical contact with other men she uttered Mahirji's name. She may not be on same page with Mahirji regarding intimacy but she definitely is on the same book. Later she lost him and his trust and craved for his attention and his touch, to a point where she faked injury. By date night it was clear they were attracted towards each other.

Then naagmuumy track happened and behir got together. Bela regained Mahirji's trust and Mahirji got assured regarding bela's reciprocated feelings. Then didn't get time to patch up because marriage track happened and boom all Mahirji's fears became alive. His insecurities, fears of losing her, his envy towards fake yuvi, his possessiveness.

When we realise we love someone and lose them and regain them back, our speed of expressing love accelerates. Now it's not just love or romance, it's desperation, it's relief, it's reassurance, it's a temporary bandaid on the upcoming marriage wound they are going to endure. It's an all is well attitude. It was an indulgence at the times of peril. Something to perk you up before you head to the battle.
