It's time to begin MC's newest topic:

The first member in the spotlight is: Aparna_BD!

She will be discussing and answering questions for us about PIANOS!

Discussion/questions:

1. How long have you been practicing/playing the piano?!

2. What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn piano?! Do any other family members play?!

3. Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the piano!

4. Is a piano similar to a harmonium, in terms of playing?!

5. Who, if any, is your favorite pianist?! Why is he/she/they your favorite?!

6. Where in your house is your piano displayed?!

7. When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the piano?!

8. When you are playing, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?! Do you close your eyes while playing, like many others?! If so, why?!

9. If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play?! Why?!

10. Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! Which one(s)?!

11. In movies, why do you think characters are sometimes shown playing the piano during sad/emotional scenes?!

12. Last but definitely not the least, a very special question from our very special HG, why do you think a "pia+no" is named what it is?! Does its name have any meaning to you, or do you know the meaning of piano?!

Discussion/questions:

1. How long have you been practicing/playing the piano?!
I started playing the Piano when i was grade 6 or 7. Some 20 years ago. But last few years i have become very irregular with any practises.

2. What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn piano?! Do any other family members play?!No One in my family plays. My neice is learning. My father was very kean i learn and always motivated me to play.

3. Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the piano!
Well you have the keys on the piano. The black keys are the sharps and flats. You have a pedal in the botton for the feet.

4. Is a piano similar to a harmonium, in terms of playing?!
I am not familiar with a harmonium at all.😳

5. Who, if any, is your favorite pianist?! Why is he/she/they your favorite?! In Classical music its Beethoven. For pop music - Its Richard Clayderman. I somehow prefer Richard Clayderman sort of music.Which is light pop music.

6. Where in your house is your piano displayed?!
In my parents house its the living room . We have an upright Piano. Here in the U.S i haven't bought a piano yet but play the synthesiser thats in my room.

7. When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the piano?!
I somehow am shy to play for people , so i prefer playing for my husband or my parents.

8. When you are playing, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?! Do you close your eyes while playing, like many others?! If so, why?!No i don't close my eyes. LOL!! I read my notes and play. I find it relaxing to play.

9. If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play?! Why?!
Well i'd be a nervous wreck if i had to perform publically. But i love playing "Fluer Elise"

10. Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! Which one(s)?!Guitar would be cool

11. In movies, why do you think characters are sometimes shown playing the piano during sad/emotional scenes?!LOl!! Maybe they are trying to express what ever emotion they are feeling.

12. Last but definitely not the least, a very special question from our very special HG, why do you think a "pia+no" is named what it is?! Does its name have any meaning to you, or do you know the meaning of piano?! I don't have a clue .LOL!!😛

i had classmates hu were learning how to play the piano and they were
required to hav short finger nails... is it really necessary to keep ur nails
short? and why?

Yes its very important. See the correct posture for your hand is to
play with the balls on your finger tip. Therefore having long nails you
won't be able to play with the correct posture of the hand.

1) What was the most difficult piece you've ever played on piano? Why was it difficult? So far it was the "The Beautifull Blue Danube"(Johann Straus)......I just couldn't keap up with the tempo. Maybe if i had practised more ....😳

2) Beethoven is my fav as well! What compositions of his do you like apart from Fur Elise? I love the "Minuet in G"

3) If you were recommending any songs by Richard Clayderman, which ones would you recommend? "Ballade Pour Adeline, Lara's theme, Don't cry for me Argentine.....and many more 😊

4) Can you play any Hindi Songs on the piano? If yes, which ones? One or two. I can play "Ajeeb Dastan"( old hindi movie)

5) Do you prefer using Sheet Music or are you more comfortable playing by ear? I prefer playing with sheet music as i don't practise enough and i forget. These days i play lot more with chords.
