Anthony Kaun Hai
Anthony Kun Hai stars the now popular duo Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi; the duo became a hot pairing after their popular comic stint together in Munnabhai MBBS. Anthony Kaun Hai (AKH) belongs to the comic genre too. The female leads in the film are Minisha Lamba and Anousha Dandekar. AKH has been produced by Nikhil Panchamiya and directed by Raj Kaushal. The surprise package is Himesh Reshammiya who has scored the music for the film and the lyrics have been penned by Sameer. The Reshammiya fever is still at its peak and Himesh continues to compose film albums as well as his personal albums at an alarming rate and speed. Nonetheless with him at the helm there are high expectations from the music of the film. Some of the singers for this album apart from Himesh of course are Sunidhi Chauhan, K.K, Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Saru Maini, Arya and Jayesh.
'Ishq Kiya Kiya'- This is the usual Himesh sung song and is rendered in his usual nasal twang that has become oh so popular. He begins belting out the track in his usual high pitch and stressing on the title words 'ishq kiya kiya'. The beats have a fast pace and the chorus is catchy enough, but the lyrics are of the same variety that is heard in most of his songs. Sunidhi joins in for a bit, but her rendition too is utterly predictable. The lyrics and music have a bit of Sufi style that again is a done to death feature in a Himesh song. Nonetheless even with everything being predictable this song will probably be one more hit with the masses. There's a 'Remix version' by DJ Akbar Sami which at least gives the track a fresher feel and appeal as it has been done creatively. It's high on pace and beats.
Score: 6.5/10
'No Way No Way'- The song is the promotional number for the film and is rendered by Himesh and K.K. Himesh attempts to move away from his predictable score with this one and manages to do so to an extent. The number turns out to be a fusion of Indian/Asian style along with the western aspects. The flute strains heard right through the number is interesting and innovative. The song is also interspersed with bits of English lyrics and a small rap piece. The rendition is done in a unique manner and the beats are averagely paced. The 'Remix Version' is done by Sami and he does an extremely good job, the track sounds even more peppy and fun than the original. The saxophone and violins too are prominently heard in the song, the song fuses together jazz and disco making it an interesting blend. The tune and lyrics are catchy and one begins to sing along and even swing to the tune. A nice different and non-filmi number.
Score: 7/10
'Bhangra Paale'- the song has been rendered by the talented Sonu Nigam but even his decent singing cannot save this boring wannabe Punjabi celebrations song. Saru Maini and Jayesh also lend support to the song. With a title like 'Bhangra Paale' one expects this to be another loud, peppy Punjabi flavoured song, but it's the exact opposite. It's a slow soft song that depicts the feeling of love with a few Punjabi lyrics thrown in. The entire vibrancy feel of the claps, shouts and dhol is toned down that one can barely hear them in the background. The song just does not have enough energy and rhythm. It however has good eye candy in the form of Anousha Dandekar. The 'Remix Version' too does not manage to lift it up and it is a very basic kind of number which even goes below average. A song that will soon be forgotten.
Score: 5/10
'Tune Mera Chain Vain Le Liya'- The song has been rendered by Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghoshal. Both of them have very melodious and soft voices which do complete justice to love songs. There's a bit of rap incorporated at the beginning of the song and the beats are averagely paced. There is a slight old world feel to it and also a Punjabi flavour used. The song has a bit of north folk style feel to it at times. It is an ordinary song but the rhythm and style of rendition make it an average feel good song. The 'Remix Version' by Sami ups the pace and tempo which makes a good final product.
Score: 6/10
'Because I Love you'- The song has been rendered by Kunal Ganjawala and his better half Gayatri. Kunal's voice is apt for this love song, but Gayatri has only a few miniscule lines which are average. The song begins with slow soulful beats. Himesh of late is on a trip of incorporating English lines in his tunes. This one incorporates the main title line 'because I love you'. There are some interesting instruments used in the background and the song has a slow rhythm. It is obviously a love song and the rendition by Kunal is quite apt with the mood and feel. Lyrics are simple and guitar strains are heard in the background. A nice soft average track which could have been more subtle towards the end as the repetition tends to be dragged a bit too much. The 'Remix Version' does not more or less change as it is a slow love song and Sami does not manage to change much.
Score: 6/10
'Let's Rock'- This is a solo number by Sunidhi Chauhan and begins with some upbeat beats. The song has a rap-raga style. The rap is done by Arya while Sunidhi belts out the number in a classical Indian manner. Lyrics are simple but it is the style that stands out in this number. The rhythm and beats are average. Sunidhi's rendition is not bad. There are three different styles, the rap, the western feel and the Indian rendition which makes it a different kind of rock song. But the number is not rocking as it lacks a catchy chorus or lines to it. An average number. Akbar Sami's 'Remix Version' is good and it gives a more energetic and lively pep to it.
Score: 6/10
Every single song has a remix version and this is perhaps something that could have been avoided. The film belongs to the comedy genre but in spite of this has plenty of love tracks. Himesh has refrained from singing most of the tracks in his usual style; instead he has tried to experiment a bit with different styles and he needs to be credited for that. However overall this album mostly has average numbers but perhaps could be lifted with good picturisations. But the soundtrack has made use of some good musical instruments in many songs which go with the location of the film, Thailand. Definitely a good effort by Himesh.
